We were here in 2011 during the "October Surprise" We went here to see the big Redwoods and were not disappointed. The walking trails are well marked and easily negotiable . Would go again if ever in the area.

Hendy Woods is a great place to go if you are in the Anderson Valley.Especially if you want to walk off all that wine and food! You can do a short leisurely stroll or a 5 mile hike...up to you.The trees are of course magnificent! The campsites are can be crowded on summer weekends but the trails are never crowded.I live nearby and walk here all the time. It's a great place to just get away to nature.

All campsites are very isolated and under giant redwood trees. Dogs allowed in campsite but not on trails. Very convenient to many local wineries.

We spent a very enjoyable two hours walking the Upper Loop trail amongst the wonderful redwooods. The trail was extremely serene, and presumably because the park is a way away from any large population centers, we only encountered one other walker. The trail is fairly flat and easy to navigate in comfortable walking shoes - climbing over a small log or avoiding protruding roots is as difficult as it gets. Restroom facilities are basic but adequate.

Wonderful stately old growth redwood trees. We were there Saturday afternoon on a sunny day. There were 3 cars in the day use parking area on arrival, and 6 when we left the main attraction of the redwood grove 2 hours later. The hike was easy, well marked and beautiful. Tall, tall trees, fern covered forest floor, occasional fallen tree. We saw just a few others on our trek, quite peaceful.

Reserved site #39 for our 27 foot trailer; however, the trailer pad was extremely unlevel due to large tree roots. Would not recommend the site for any size trailer due the direction of entry and overall condition of the parking pad. Luckily the camp host Bernie was very helpful and let us know the park has "emergency" sites. Thankfully, we were able to move to site #72 which fit our trailer and although a shady site it should not be considered a private campsite. Hendy Woods is a lovely campground but should be considered a tent campground. Few sites would accommodate travel trailers over 24ft. Also, the road ways through the campground are narrow with large trees close to the road which makes travelling through the park difficult with a trailer.

We love Hendy Woods! One day we hiked north from the picnic area to Little Hendy Grove. A few days we hiked south to Big Hendy grove. Both hikes are lovely. The shade brings welcome relief from summer heat. The Hermit's huts are very moving. I am glad that this Russian immigrant's history is captured so well. The hikes up to his huts allow for a little more aerobic workout, and allow for enjoying a different kind of forest. We hope we can return again!

Sitting on a bench in the middle of Hendy Woods was the most relaxing hours spent on the entire trip to the Left Coast.

This is a beautiful park great for camping or day use. The walks through the lofty redwoods are awe-inspiring.

Every trail was beautiful, from the Hermit huts to the Discovery trail. We loved the redwoods the best! Their incredible height and variety! It was so quiet and there was a respectful silence around the giant trees! There are occasional benches dotted around, camping available and a nice picnic area for day users. Wonderful area!

The camping site 14 was spacious and level and fairly near the restroom. We could have easly put 2 tents in addition to our 30' RV in the site. The space was partially shaded, not as much as some of the other sites, but enough to keep cool. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. I walked the trails that go through some small but beautiful redwood groves. The campground is out of the way from main roads, but worth the travel.

I visited Hendy Woods for hiking. The park is located about 1/2 mile south of 128. The trails are not very long but they do go through some small groves of large redwoods. The trails were relatively flat so almost anyone can walk though the groves. During the week the ranger station was not open so there was self registration. The day use fee is $8. There were just a few people in the park during the afternoon. One tip, for day use, keep driving on the main road until you reach the last parking lot. That is where the trails start. The signs are not very clear where the trails are located. The bathroom at the trail parking lot is an outhouse. If you are driving by this is worth a stop. If your goal is to take a long hike through redwoods I would recommend Big Basin State Park instead.

perfect for a day hike through the redwoods. leisurely, beautiful, and there were very few people there. we'd definitely go back next time we're in the area. beautiful majestic redwoods!!

We spend a pleasant night tent camping in site 65 amongst the towering redwoods. The neighbors were far enough away that we hardly noticed them. The restrooms had flush toilets and a coin operated shower (we didn't try it). They were reasonably clean, but the women's side ran out of TP.There are plenty of easy hiking trails nearby. Be sure to visit old growth redwood groves protected by their former owner Mr Hendy.

You wouldn't think that this park would have the Redwoods that they have - but, they do! They almost sneak up on you as you walk through the woods. Homey and private, good for dogs and pretty good for facilities as well!
