This was my second year camping and rafting on the American River but the first with Earthtrek. Last year we were with another group that had some pretty rustic facilities but the staff was nice. In comparison, Earthtrek has REALLY nice tent cabins, a real bathroom and shower building, amazing food and exceptional staff. Our river guide, Albert, is a top notch guide who perfectly blended excitement with safety. There was a fire dancer show at night and an optional masseuse on site. We will definitely be back!!

What a great experience with this organization! The campsite offers a variety of options from pre-set tents with bunks, to rent a tent (they put it up and break it down for you) or bring your own do your thing - which caters to all camping skill levels! The options available make it easy for even a rookie camper like myself. The facilities (bathrooms & showers) were the nicest and cleanest of any campsite I've ever visited - that is a huge bonus!I purchased a weekend package which included food and two days of rafting. The food was great, the staff exceptional and they had coffee brewed and available by 6am each day! There was plenty of space to spread out and hang out at night, and many were playing ping pong or tossing footballs too. The quiet hours begin at 10pm so sleeping was not a problem at all. The rafting is what I truly came for, both the Middle and South forks were the parts of the American River that I was able to fit in. The first day we went on the Middle fork, it was calm with some nice stretches of rapids. A great introduction to white water rafting or for someone who is a little timid. The second day we rafted the South Fork which was fantastic! There were a good amount of strong rapids and space to jump out and float if you wanted as well. Topping this experience off was our guide. We had a young man named Nigel and he was fantastic. He knew the rivers well, was able to prepare us for what we were going to experience and what he needed us to do to position ourselves for the best ride. He was a gem and added to the experience with his skill, stories and camaraderie. If you're looking for a great space to camp, or a full package of camping and rafting I highly recommend Earthtrek Expeditions it was exceptional on every aspect.

We had a one day rafting trip which included a deli lunch. They supplied the guide, raft, paddles, life vest and helmet. We had so much fun! Our guide, Kova, was wonderful! He kept us going and we didn't fall in the water once! We did jump in. All the other guides were also very nice and friendly. They were all professional and very concerned with safety.

Actually, that is the only reason why we came. It was off season, too cold for Rafting, in fact there was no rafting the weekend we were there so we had entire campground ALL to ourselves!! Everything was clean and QUIET! Owners set aside the best Tent Cabin right on the river for us, complete with warm bedding, Restrooms and showers were immaculate. We were doing a roadtrip from AZ, to San Deigo, up the coast, through San Francisco, and stopped here then on to Yosemite, Mammoth, Vegas and home. This was a GEM to relax over the river balcony attached to our tent cabin - a bit like Glamping - and have some wine and appetizers.
