Borra Vineyards reminds me of what I love about the Lodi region: the tasting room has a friendly atmosphere with no pretension, the winery is a family-run tradition, and the wines are good. However, Borra takes the best qualities of the Lodi wine experience one step farther with their innovative white wines. Markus Niggli, the winemaker, makes excellent dry whites in ways that are unexpected (e.g. picking local Gewurtztraminer grapes early to make a fresh, dry white wine) but also makes some nice reds, especially the Heritage blend. Tastings are only $5 and the wines are affordable for purchase. If Markus Niggli and Steve Borra are there, you'll enjoy talking with them and learning about their winery's interesting history.Don't miss this place on your Lodi wine tour!

Borra was a surprise. The property and tasting room are charming, - the people who work the bar are delightful and knowledgeable. And the wine is first rate. Especially considering the price. We both joined their wine club and purchased several bottles while we were there. Interesting white wines and some memorable reds.
