troutmere fishing

Myself, wife and to young kids drove to Troutmere located on Highway 84 near La Honda. The drive there is nice we took Highway 84 from Redwood city going through Woodside before we got there. I would recommend getting there at 10:00 when it opens as there is good parking (it filled up fast) and its more low key when there are less people fishing. What you do is drive in check in with the outside desk (two really nice people there a man and women could not be more nice) you give them $5 for parking then pick your your bait and fishing pole and then just go basically fish. The bait is a pellot form bait just soft enough to put on the hook. The pole is a bamboo rod with just enough line to get out far enough to catch some trough. There is no reel but its not needed. Simply watch the bobber go down the pull up some nice trout. The kids just loved it, we easly caught 6 trout in less then 1 hour. Try to get a nice spot with nothing behind you so you will not hit anything as you pull up the trout. The people working there will even clean the trout for you for a resonable fee. What a great time. In addtion, the propety itself is just beautiful. What a great place to be with the kids. After we were done, we continued on to 84 and hit the Pacific Ocean, then drove north to Half Moon bay then continued home what a nice drive.
