Excellent collection of historical Coalinga area, plus many period pieces and old machines. Good collection of fossils and local gems and minerals plus some native American artifacts.

The displays of articles from the past which is part of the History of Coalinga are great. Done in a way informing visitors of, When, why and who started Coalinga.

One of our main reasons for going to Coalinga was to visit the R.C.Baker museum and we were not disappointed. It is loaded with tons of local and regional history and has a huge selection of period pieces. It is housed in several buildings and includes many large items in their fenced backyard. It has an amazing collection of rocks and minerals, fossils, photographs and equipment of all sorts. You could spend days going through all the museum and still find new treasures to cause wonder.

clean attractive motoring museum; especially enjoyed the antique gas pumps and well decorated 1920s gas station.

I noticed the RC Baker Museum on my iphone when driving down to Bakersfield and so stopped in Coalinga for a lunch break. I was glad that I turned off the freeway and took the time to visit the town. The museum is great - much better than what you see on their website. We spent a good hour looking around all the exhibits that tell the history of the town from the late 1800s. Hundreds of artifacts from clothing, furniture, fire engines, oilfield equipment, fossils, the list goes on.Friendly staff. The museum closes for an hour for lunch. Stop off if you are on a road trip - you won't be disappointed.

We had a great time at this museum. There are lots of things that have been donated over the years from the late 1800's, up until now. It's interesting to see how a town changes over the years. And the volunteers we spoke with while there were very knowledgeable and added a lot to our experience at the museum. We enjoyed it very much and would recommend others to stop by and see if they've passing through the area and have some extra time.

Come see it. I can only imagine what the town was like in it's heyday. Some good local history. Some junk. Not as interesting as the museum in Winnamucca.
