chico museum

In terms of the exhibit--it's nice. Nothing to write home about, but does give a very good overview of Chico's history. It's not very kid-friendly, but I would say it's appropriate for 10+.The exhibit is fine, but the customer service left something to be desired. Paying turned into a bit of an ordeal, due to a slow dial-up credit card machine, but we were soon on our way to the museum. I was wandering around reading the plaques and I was holding my giant camera. The elderly woman working came up to me and snapped at me that photography was not allowed. I was startled, and asked her when I had walked in holding the camera and put it on the counter, why didn't she say anything then? She then snottily replied that there were signs "all over the place." Before I could respond, she turned around and walked away. On our way out, I specifically asked my husband to look for this "No photography" sign because I couldn't see it. He finally found it-- the size of a small index card on white paper. Overall, not something I would ensure to do while in Chico. But if you're here for more than a week, there's not much else to do, so this is a good time filler.
