As we were driving back from the Hoover Dam, our Gypsy Guide suggested a stopover here. We were tired and not really motivated to stop, but I decided to quickly check TripAdvisor where I noticed high reviews. Yes. Yes. Yes. This is a hidden gem that surprisingly doesn't get much publicity. It was great - glad we didn't miss it! The fee is nominal.

Situated just outside Las Vegas on a lone stretch of Boulder Highway, it would be easy to pass up this museum. There are no large signs or anything to indicate how wonderful this place really is.The cost, only a few dollars and well worth it. At first you enter into the main building which is the museum proper. There are exhibits of stuffed African animals (standard museum fare). An underwater exhibit area (fun for kids, but the sound echos really bad in there). The best areas are an exhibit which takes you from Las Vegas in the ancient times all the way up to preset day. Artifacts from the pioneer days to the start of gambling. The other great exhibit is ancient Egypt, which features items formerly found in the Luxor Hotel collection. This is a million dollar King Tut exhibit and features perfect copy tomb items some of which contain real gold.Outside is where the real treat begins. There is a full train station and railroad cars. These detail the early rail years of the area. You can walk through an old caboose and see a real train office.Next door to this, there is an old "ghost town" featuring buildings that were moved there to simulate an old 1800's town. It's fascinating to see these old structures. The best by far is a full street of homes depicting various eras in Nevada history. Each house has been placed carefully on a real street, sidewalks created, along with landscaping. The houses have been decorated to furniture and items from their eras. Amazing to walk through a house that looks like it just fell out of the 30's, 40's, or 50's. As you enter, there is an audio program that explains each house, the former owners and their history to the area. This is truly history brought to life.

...And every single one loved it. I am not even a history buff, but it is enjoyable if you are: into science, old machines and tools, remember the 50's, like walking around outside, want to take some great photos, or ARE a history buff.Just go and be surprised at all the things you see, remember or learn.

For 2 dollars you can see history in display and outside on Heritage Street a group of houses from the area old machines. Some could do with loving care, but you will be well pleased with your 2 dollars and 4 hours there .

For a couple of bucks you can spend a couple of hours of checking out the history of the area. They have a street exhibit of what live was like from the 20' to the 70's. Actual furniture and clothes from the era.

If you want to know about the history of Nevada and Henderson, this is the place to go. Staff is very knowledgeable. Great for people who like to see old building and history.

Very informative and interesting to say the least. The museum contains many displays about the development of the area, from early settlers to early slot machines. It's alays neat to find out where certain names around town came from. The real treat were the authentic homes on site which depict life in the earlier years. Great detail and one home even had the original carpet! Well worth the minimal cost of admission!

I loved walking through the old restored houses and train cars on the property. The houses have the old furniture and appliances from different 1900 decades

I have lived in Henderson for over 23 years and JUST found out about this place last year. I have taken several people there and been there once by myself to take photos. It is wonderful. A trip back in time. It's WAY cheap, $2 for adults, $1 for seniors, and I believe $1 for children under 18. I plan to take my son when he comes to visit as he's a professional photographer. He wants to do a shoot there.

Since moving in to the area in November, we wanted to know more about the area and it's history. The museum is well done and very informative. Everything was well done and spaced out. Be prepared for a lot of walking. If you want to know about the history of Las Vegas, go see this museum.

Knowing that the curator of the Clark County Heritage Museum, Mark Hall-Patton, has appeared numerous times on the ubiquitous Pawn Stars series as an expert on a diverse number of topics, I wanted to see the museum. My wife and I were intrigued by the layout of the main interpretative centre which uses diorama displays, artifacts and memorabilia from the Las Vegas area to depict the rich history of the region. Beyond the museum is a collection of vintage buildings that, in part were originally salvaged from a casino in Las Vegas, as well as coming from the nearby areas, but now form a major part of the Clark County Heritage Museum. Ranging from Ghost town buildings to homes, a trailer, print shop and railroad depot, the dozen or more walk-in buildings form a memorable glimpse of life in bygone times. Not all, but many of the buildings have an audio introduction as you enter, giving the background of the site. The interiors are filled with the furniture, equipment and paraphernalia of the period they are depicting. All in all, a wonderful museum with an extremely low admission fee, and a nice gift shop/reception area run by volunteers. If you are in Las Vegas, it's a short distance away to open your eyes to the history of something beyond the casino "fooferall".

This place has something for every fan of history: memorabilia from old Vegas, Indian artifacts and old mining equipment, slot machines and dancing shoes, an entire eclectic collection of old houses from the area, dating from the beginning of the XXth Century and complete with furniture and appliances, a vintage trailer with its charming wood interiors, a steam locomotive and its RR depot, but most of all: stories of people and events from the old times: it's a treasure trove for any lover of history. It is clear that they don't have much money, but they are enthusiastic at preserving what they do have. I wish them all the luck in the world: we spent enchanted three and a half hours and did not even notice how much time had gone by. Admission is a meager $2 ($1 for children and Seniors). Rent a car if you have to (I did) but go see it, it's a gem! From LV, talke 515 South to Exit 56 in Henderson and then follow the signs.

I found out a lot of things that I didn't know even though I had visited this area many times in the past.

Definitely loved this museum. The exhibits are fascinating and displayed with imagination. The ghost town, the wedding chapel and the trains are a must see. Hands down the best $2, I've spent in a long time.

Loved this place. From the exhibits in the welcome area through the Paiute area, the trains, the equipment, the houses and....really so much to see for such a small price. We all enjoyed our time there and are looking forward to returning.
