klindt's bookstore

This book store is one of the oldest in Oregon. Great service. Always able to order what they do not carry.

Lucky to find this gem of a bookstore in The Dalles. We were next door at an antique/gift store and as always when we see a store such as this……it draws us in! J.P., Karen and Cassie, all three working that day, were friendly, helpful and attentive to our requests and conversation. A treat for sure. Take the time to visit this store and buy.

The oldest bookstore in Oregon and the seventh oldest in the United States, Klindt's Bookstore is a gem tucked away in a sleepy community that clearly appreciates books, in a region that worships them. (The Portland Library has the highest book circulation in the country, and Powell's City of Books is an experience, too.) The buyer for this place knows what they are doing and the place is spotlessly clean. I visited Klindt's because it is the location of the last photograph my grandfather had taken of himself (genealogy tour) and now it makes sense. He was a lover of words and language. If I lived in the area, I wouldn't mind having Klindt's included as part of my last memorial, too.
