The restoration on the Moyer House appears meticulous and the volunteer guide that we had did a wonderful job explaining the history of the family and the surrounding community. I believe the home is only open for tours on the weekends, but it's worth stopping in the Linn County Museum to see if there are tours during the weekdays. If, on the off-chance, there are enough volunteers at the museum they may be willing to show you the Moyer House as well. One of my favorite parts of the house were the ceilings, painted by an Italian artist when the house was built. The painted designs are beautiful and the story behind the restoration is interesting. This historical site asks a $2 donation per person, and I think it's a wonderful thing to donate to! It's within walking distance from the Linn County Historical Museum so it's very easy to see both sites. The house and the museum complement one another well.

If you are in Brownsville you have to visit the Moyer House. This home was built in 1881 Italianate Villa style. The price for a tour is so reasonable too! This is a need to see, the outside is pretty but the inside is beautiful.
