I try not to let my expectations get too high when I research a place I think may be "something". Medicine Park is something; a unique, quirky, little town with a TON of character...really I've never been to any place like it. I was immediately at home. Literally, the gateway to the Wichita Refuge, I understand the attraction to Medicine Park. That said, once I did an exploratory walk through...I was pretty much done. Would I go back? Yes.

This location is perfect if you love the off the beaten path destinations. It was beautiful in its abandoned grandeur. I would definitely go back just for the history. Interesting in that it was once so highly touted destination for the elite. I would love to go back. The spring was a refreshing swimming hole. Not too busy... just perfect.

Medacine park has a great atmosphere. Most of the folks who live here are very laid back and really know how to enjoy life. They always have different festivals going on with various works of art and music. Go visit luna June if you are looking for a unique piece of clothing or jewelry. Take a walk around and enjoy the view.

I first saw Medicine Park in its dark days with the swimming area a dump and the area run down. It has grown much better and is in the process of returning to "...those thrilling days of yesteryear!" And yes, you might expect the Lone Ranger to appear

First of all I want to say I love the Medicine Park area. From the time I was in grade school back in the 50's and we went there for a school skating trips until the present when we take our granddaughters there it's always been a place that just makes you feel like you're on vacation. You can pay $2.00 per person and swim all day in the creek where it even has a shallow area for little kids and a deep part for the swimmers. There are a few good restaurants, plus a snack stand and other little shops to browse in. You can fish at the lakes around this area and they release trout in season. It's a good place for families and singles no matter what age. Go visit this place!
