The WCHS is open Friday and Saturday afternoon from 1:30 to 4:30. Docents will show you around the many buildings and exhibits. There are special rotating exhibits in the Kister Building. Current ones are Wayne County in the Civil War and 50 Years of Great Food - restaurants open for more than half a century or so. Previously exhibits included: Currency, financial operations and funding the Civil War; and the evolution of the bathing suit. New ongoing constructions are rebuilding an 1830 log cabin, a carriage house and smoke house. The original Beall House is fabulous, along with the fire station with early trucks. A general store and millinery and a one room school house complete the campus. Lectures and musical performances are given through the year in the school house. Group visits may be scheduled at other weekdays.
