Actually in West Virginia. I hope they fix that. Cool statue and the whole Mothman story is great. Be sure to get the whole story!

I was here for the 2014 Mohman festival and the statue did not disappoint. You really need I see it if passing through and especially if you know the history.

If you get a chance to visit, definitely look at the statue and go to the Mothman Museum next door. Although it may not look exactly like the real Mothman, it's the idea that counts. Everyone in Point Pleasant is very friendly and you will enjoy the small city charm. The Mothman Festival is a lot of fun and you will learn a lot from the people you meet there. I have attended the Mothman Festival for the last 2 years and I hope to attend next year. There are other wonderful sites to visit while you are there too.

One of the best offbeat roadside stops you can make would be to Point Pleasant, WV (not OH as reported above!). The statue of the Mothman welcomes all to the small riverside town. Be sure to check out the nearby Mothman museum, too!(Note that my visit was in 2007, but I can't set the time selection back that far)

On the way home to Illinois I looked up "towns" that had history and 'quirky' things to see. After stopping in "Mayberry" (Mt Airy NC) I moved up the road to Point Pleasant WV. The "Mothman" Statue was something I had to get a picture of. Not hard to find due to trip advisor. The statue was in a quiet little park in the middle of town. A little bit of history on the statue plaque. The statue was actually well done and in great shape. The same little park held great information about the American Revolution battle in the area. I arrived too late to go the "Mothman Museum," but maybe that could be another time. Ate at Tom Tom's restaurant. (another review) good food. Mothman was a hit with the pics I put out on FB.

On our way to a reunion in West Virginia several years ago, we made a side trip to Point Pleasant and the Mothman Statue. It is a sleepy little town with a few gift shops and on a side street is the Statue. It is worth a picture or two. Dont hesitate to walk around and definitly go down by the river with the beautiful amplitheater and statues of the corn cheif I think. If you are a little more adventeous, stop at one of the gift shops and ask for directions to the TNT bunkers. These are pretty cool. This is where the Mothman was first spotted back in the 1960's and it is suppose to be haunted by the indians who the bunkers were built upon a old burial site. There are a few bunkers you can go into. They are pitch black and if you take several photos you will be amazed on what comes out. Remeber digital photos only take what is there, dust does not imprint onto the photo. We have returned to this site multiple times and are still a little spooked.

I made sure to plan our route via Point Pleasant WV just to check out the MothMan and the Silver Bridge disaster

This statue commemorates the unexplained Mothman sightings in Point Pleasant, WV, leading up to the Silver Bridge disaster. It is an absolutely beautiful piece of art and MUST be seen if you're in Point Pleasant. Better than the museum, maybe.

Point Pleasant was exactly what I expected, very funky. I don't know if it's worth a special trip unless you're a hardcore fan but it's great roadside Americana. We got some shirts and other cool stuff at the Mothman museum. One of these years I'm coming for the festival.

Awesome statue of a folk legend. Hard to believe a town that lost that many lives back in 1967 would be OK with erecting a statue of a mythical creature, but they did, and it's PRETTY SWEET! The town itself has an eerie, run-down, out-of-the-way feel but the river is there, the statue is there, and there is even a sweet museum less than a block away. Stop and get a photo of you with the Mothman. Totally worth the mile of the highway.

The Mothman Statue is unique and a great place to have a photograph taken. If you are in the area, you simply must visit the statue. It is easy to find and will provide great conversation when you are showing off your vacation photos!

As far as Mothman statues go, it's hard to critique because as far as I know, it's the only one. So obviously it's the best! While we were looking at it as a unique curiosity while visiting PP for family nostalgia purposes, we were joined by a couple who had come across the bridge from visiting Gallipolis just to see the Mothman. It was great fun to talk to them and their excitement and enthusiasm were contagious, making the Mothman more significant than its' original "by the way" ranking to us regarding sites to see in PP. If the gift shop/museum people realized how many people are looking at the Mothman in the evening, maybe they would stay open later. We would have loved to get some kind of Mothman souvenir. It's right across the street from a fairly large hotel, the Lowe. The Post Office is also across the street. Ample free parking spots around the area.

this is one of those neat roadside attractions you hear about and just have to stop. It is cool just for a photo visit the bridge that collapsed is easily seen from this statue and it is great because my kids needed a stop and it was something that everyone wanted to get their picture by

The statue of THE mothman is eerily sitting on the side street of downtown Point Pleasant, West Virginia. It really is a beautiful metal sculpture depicting the mothman legend. This little town is the background for the story of mothman, the black winged creature. The small store right beside the statue has a very interesting shop owner who will very factually tell you the history of the mothman. And oh what a history the mothman has. Dating back to the Indian Cornstalk, to the surveyor George Washington, who later became our 1st president, all the way to the Twin Towers bombing of 2001. Stop for a visit of the sculpture, of the adjacent museum and the store. BE SURE to drive out to the former ammunition factory site and explore the bunkers!! You may be really , really surprised. With what???????

Having seen the movie & read the book, "The Mothman Prophecies," I had to come by the statue and take its picture. Nice shiny hunk o'art. Best of all...when you park to take the snapshot, there are no parking meters. Parking is FREE in downtown Point Pleasant. The Mothman story is, in and of itself, bizarre, but when you couple the "sightings" with the collapse of the Silver Bridge in Dec. 1967, it becomes a compelling tale.
