Terrible place to spend the day, as a business owner who only has time off in the winter, I was at this place almost every day. Busted beer bottles all over the parking lot and trash all over the exterior but I can't walk out with a coke. the parking lot is all caving in every time i went i hear bottoms of cars scraping the pavement. If your a horse player like me , good luck watching the simulcast upstairs because in the middle of the race someone walks by the screen and there isn't even a race running for another 10 minutes. if your betting mahoning valley race course good luck!! because almost every race the horses break out dead last and at least once a day a jockey is falling off the horse I know most of these jockeys from other tracks their veteran riders obviously there's something going on behind the scenes that theses guys don't even try. i went 3 days in a row and they were out of regular coffee, all I can say is if your betting keno at the bar make sure you set aside a tip for the dark haired bartender she expects to get paid every drink or prepare for rude service!!! Then there's the slot play i was getting $20 a week for 2 months then one sunday none I raised a fuss, im top member at thistledown and northfield , if you come at night hope you ate before you came because at midnight you will be starving and they don't care. just feed the machines or go home is thier attitude. Make sure to bring your kids out to watch the horses there is a safety violation by the fence if someone is looking down the stretch at thier winning horse you will trip over the raised concrete and probably land head first into the fence. There is a 300 lb girl who works upstairs in the simulcast area if you look under the R in the restroom area in the back she is splitting the drywall is this place going to collapse. I know her from a previous place she worked she is lazy and rude, and what is the deal if you hit over $400 on the horses waiting around for your money to come up what a joke. This is by far the worst atmosphere i have ever seen it takes time to see the flaws but believe me they are all around. And people dont know how to bet on horses , you would think they would have a seperate line to have courtesy for veteran handicappers so that we dont get shut out of the race, hope you can read a racing form with all the distractions because apparently it's ok for people to sing opera upstairs , but not ok to cuss, i come to bet horses not listen to your poor vocals. I thought mountaineer was bad but if you love being abused come here!!!

Nice selection of machines compared to Cleveland Horseshoe and Thistledown, however, there are few comps that I have seen or been made aware of, I have also found it to be sooooo crowded almost all the time that I can't get onto many of the machines.

Visited the racetrack and gaming area.Racing began on November 24th and runs into April 2015. Be sure to mark your calendar for exciting thoroughbred racing. The video slots were not as varied as other nearby casinos in Cleveland and Pittsburgh. Dining is limited to a "Food Court" arrangement but they do offer free soft drinks and coffee. Staff were very friendly but appeared not to have blended into a Team Atmosphere due to the majority of the staff's lack of experience in a casino environment. When approached some staff were unsure of the rules or procedures for cashing-out and for assisting with placing a wager on the horse races. Once the races started, it was pure excitement. The lounge areas are very comfortable and conducive for watching live racing. My recommendations: ditch the slots, add boxing and table games and keep the ponies.

Decided to give it a try. Very small with no table games. So many $5 and up slits that no one was playing. Could have been used for more reasonable machines. Lots of repeat machines not a variety. Ate in the bar upstairs. Good was burnt, tasteless and not worth the price. Should have just grabbed something at the fast food places downstairs. I wouldn't go back. I can travel to erie and play table games and eat at the steak house.

it's nice just to go to if you're bored. Clean and new. Too small for me. I went twice first time I broke even. Second time Ihit the progressive jackpot. Won't be back for a little while getting ready to go to Las Vegas for seven days next week. Good luck everyone.

We visited the new casino with some friends/family. It's a bit smaller than some other Hollywood casinos we've visited before. Nice inside. They offer complimentary soda and coffee at self-serve stations. I spoke with some of the staff and they were friendly but didn't follow you around or otherwise bother us. I didn't see a buffet. Parking was plentiful although the path to the parking lot is confusing. There are signs but, it is by no means a straight shot. Needless to say, we saw some folks who were confused like we were and had to turn around. There was one thing that i didn't like: my wife and i forgot our rewards cards. We visited the desk to get new ones. There were two people behind the counter and my wife was welcomed. I stood there waiting and finally the other clerk said she was busy and would be with me in a minute. What seemed like 10 minutes later, my wife was done and i went to the clerk that helped her. The one i was waiting on didn't say a word but, kept typing onto her computer. As a customer, i was somewhat offended. I was willing to wait if there was a reason but, the clerk made no reasonable attempt to tell me anything. I have been to several other Hollywood casinos and have always been treated in a more customer-friendly manner. There was food for sale but, we did not partake. It was like a bistro.

This facilty is new; very clean and staff was friendly. Decor is attractive. The place is small but they have crammed so many slots that it is very difficult to make your way through some of the areas. Hurray for Ohio; it is non-smoking! Beverage bars are self serve which I particularly appreciate. Lunch at the Food Court was good and the price is nice. Easy to access this place as it is near major highway; loads of parking. Pleasant day but don't expect to hit it big: payouts are few and far between.

Went to Y-town for a family event and had a couple hours to kill so decided to visit their new casino. Having been to the Hollywood Casino in Harrisburg Area we had high expectations and they delivered on them. Extremely clean and beautifully designed - upscale in every way. We went to the sports bar and it's gorgeous. Horses weren't running that day, but what a great venue to watch the races - and the games!Only downside is no table games (not sure how that works in Ohio). Also, there seemed to be an over-abundance of high value slots (like $25 and $50) with lots of empty seats and not quite enough pennies (which everyone wants.) I also didn't see many of my personal favorites, but that's okay. It's a great start for an area that badly needs this. I had to keep reminding myself I was in Youngstown/Austintown. Great job!

Great machines, no smoking inside the racino, reasonbly-priced drinks, decent payouts. They just need more room for machines, cash-out machines, you name it. And once the racing starts, this will REALLY be a destination to be desired.
