This is an absolute must-see when you're in Bennington. The short elevator ride to the top is all that it takes for the best view in Vermont. The history of this area is as vast as the view is. There's a nice gift shop where you'll buy your ticket and the grounds are beautiful.

We visited this area during the 1980's prior to visiting Saratoga Battlefield. The Bennington Museum, Monument, and Battlefield were very informative and impressive. It was interesting to learn that American New England Militia won a significant victory over British forces who were trying to obtain supplies. This weakened the British army which led to another American victory at Saratoga. The British plan to isolate New England colonies from the rest of the colonies thus failed. Bennington is a beautiful city that met all our needs as travelers. We had a great time.

Conveniently located from town. This historic site is interesting and beautifully maintained. The Visitors Center is an easy walk and quite charming.

Unfortunately it was closed the day we visited. It was a spur of the moment idea, the area is nice and we had a lovely walk. Try the Bennington Museum then go to the monument.

Our B&B host recommended this stop and we were happy we took the time. The grounds are beautiful and worth the time.

It was a lovely way of viewing the area and looking at the autumn colour. As it was the most eye catching monument in the area it was easy to spot and find

The amount of history there is just very unbelievable. Must go to the top as they have beautiful views.

I'm a history buff, and coming to this Battle Monument filled me with overwhelming emotion. Standing on the soil where brave men risked their lives to fight tyranny is enough reward in itself. Don't miss the going up in the tower for the amazing views. If you can, go in the Fall to heighten the experience.

We visited this monument the second week of October. An elevator takes you to the top as the stairs are out of service. A very friendly gentleman runs the elevator who is happy to share his knowledge and history of the tower. Tickets for entrance can be purchased across the parking lot in the gift store/museum. The views from the top were just breathtaking with all the fall colors. There is no time limit on how long you can stay at the top so we were happy to take our time and photograph the beautiful views.

The monument, which looks like a gray Washington Monument, is sited on top of the hill where the US rebels (Patriots now) kept their supplies and arms. The actual revolutionary war battle of Bennington occurred down to the west of the monument in New York State. It was a rebel victory, and the British never got to the supplies. Statues of the army heroes flank the monument. There was no real information on the battle at the monument, however, and the battlefield was closed when we drove down to it. The elevator up to the top of the monument was also closed. But it is a landmark well worth drivng up to.

We visited this monument in October. I think our views of the fall trees and colors were the best from the top of the monument. The employees in the gift shop and the guide on the elevator were exceptional.

We had a great experience here! The man who ran the elevator was well-informed and genuinely interested in Bennington's history. We were on the last ride up with him before he locked up. He gave us plenty of time to enjoy the amazing views from the top of the monument. I definitely recommend this place. The people are very friendly, and the view is incredible especially in the fall. Don't miss it!

We reached almost at the end of the day, they close by 5 pm. Its perhaps a nice ride up the elevator but we decided against it and just walked around in the small roundabout around the monument. Its definitely worth a visit and its surrounded by victorian homes and historic lanes, the town itself has a lot of art galleries and beautiful stores, worth a visit within the museum also near the monument.

The monument's setting is lovely and the view from the top is even better. Well worth the small fee to the ride - take your camera!

I wasn't familiar with the Battle of Bennington before coming here and was interested to learn of its significance in affecting the outcome of the subsequent Battle of Saratoga. The views from the top of the monument are exquisite in the fall. The little gift shop is a good place to pick up gifts for your family and cat-sitter back home.
