... this is such a special place. About 5km around the lake. You can run through the woods as there is a path. There is an old cemetery at the start which is an interesting find. And plenty of kayakers (bring your own) and beach spots and views of the mountains around you. Swimming and lunch and dogs. Perfect.... just don't tell anyone.

Our friends asked us if we had ever been to Lowell Lake State Park, and we replied that we hadn't. So, on a warm sunny August day we jumped in the car and traveled to Londonderry and entered this beautiful State Park that seemed to be forgotten by most. We brought our kayaks and picnic baskets along with chairs and enjoyed the quiet of Lowell Lake. The Lake is never very busy with locals, even on the hottest days. The water is spring and stream fed, deep in parts and great for swimming and canoeing or kayaking. Fishing is permitted and plentiful in the morning and late afternoons. Motors are not allowed. Rangers visit the Park and provide helpful information about hiking trails around the Lake environs. There is no defined swimming area and No Lifeguards are at the Park. Kids and Non-Swimmers should bring and use life preservers when in the water. There are no services available at Lowell Lake and porta-potties are located at the entrance to the parking area. There is a Park map listing trails and lake areas at the opposite end of the parking lot (holds about 20 cars). Picnic areas are along the shore and on the islands in the Lake.Enjoy the Lake and keep quiet about it. Let's keep it our secret. If you found this review interesting, please click on the HELPFUL button. Thanks.

My fiancé and I strolled around the lake during our recent stay in Loudenderry. It's about a 3.5 mile walk - an easy, but beautiful walk.

Not much in the way of facilities here, but this is a wonderful refuge for a kayaking or canoe ride, picnics and a swim. There is a trail that runs all the way around the lake ( 3 miles or so?), buggy in summer but nice for a family hike. Note: last time we were there, we startled a young black bear!

I swim here every morning in the summer and hike it in spring and fall. I also snowshoe there in the winter. The only negative is how crowded it is getting. Parking is becoming an issue if you go in the afternoon or early evening. Since there aren't many places like this in the area everybody wants to go there and enjoy it.

Spend 4 hours with a picnic and reading. Saw many people going kayaking and using other small non-motorize boats

quiet, beautiful long walk through woods with pleasant views...don't miss the adjacent cemetery with Revolutionary War gravestones towards the south east side of the trail

go up the semi paved road off rte. 11 in Londonderry and you will find it... great hiking trails, very scenic and peaceful. The fish weren't biting but it was noon on an August day. It was great to break away regardless.

Bring a chair or set at the picnic table a take in a wonderful view. I would give it a higher rating if there were no falling apart old camp buildings and that the only bathroom is a pretty full porta potty.

We stopped here on our way home from Londonderry. It was a very nice day with a great view. We really enjoyed ending our vacation with a nice relaxing time casting a line out into the lake. There were a few people walking and kayaking around the lake. Picnic tables throughout, 1 Portapotty in parking lot.

Very beautiful little hike. Not too strenuous (I have a sore ankle... and hiked fine). Even saw a turtle on the back road. I got there at 5pm, and forgot to put mosquito repellent, so I hiked faster than usual waving my hands often to push the mosquito away. Some parts of the hike are muddy, but you can see hikers are creating a 'new trail' by walking around.Took me 1:20 to hike the 3.37miles (according to my phone). If you can, I recommend bringing a canoe for the day!!!!

Modest pond, easily overwhelmed on weekends. Not big enough for much of a paddle, very limited facilities.

Lowell Lake State Park was incredibly beautiful even without any fall foliage or snow. The trail was easy and scenic and the Revolutionary era cemetery, was really cool.

the lake is beautiful, and the main trail is a good hike! not too steep, good variation of landscape, and the property is lovely. some parts of it seem run down (there is a row of cabins that are falling apart...they were actually pretty cool to poke around!) but the trails are nicely maintained.
