Excellent English high tea! Be sure to bring your appetite! We sat in the beautiful front library enjoying freshly brewed tea, scones, sandwiches, and tea cakes. You won't be disappointed!

My family and I attended afternoon tea at the Governor's House in Hyde Park today. This is one of the little rituals I have missed from when I used to work in the UK so frequently and it was genuine and authentic to my fond memories from London! The building was gorgeous and the food and tea were fantastic, but more importantly to me, the owner who put this on was a pure delight to to speak with.. educated.. well-read.. curious about everything.. a genuine scholar and host. She provided lively, informative, and tremendously interesting conversation and I'd wager we spent at least an extra hour there speaking with her. I could not recommend afternoon tea here any more vigorously than I am, and I wish I had the time to make it back to some of the other events she puts on in this beautiful inn.

My daughter and I visited Governor's House for a Jane Austen Weekend 5 years ago and were very pleased with the weekend we spent there and although we haven't as yet managed a return stay, we were fortunate to be able to come for Afternoon Tea on a recent trip to Stowe. The feeling we got as we came up the sweeping driveway and made our way to the front door, reminded us of the wonderful time we had had and once again, we were not disappointed. Suzanne, the innkeeper, greeted us in the foyer and it was as if the last 5 years just fell away and there we were in the library, once more, enjoying the beautifully appointed room and eagerly anticipating the treat we knew we had in store. Afternoon Tea, was just as we remembered it and yet, refreshingly new again, with white porcelain and silver and Battenberg lace, and the most exquisite tea fare you could imagine. Everything is fresh, homemade, dainty and delicious and with pot after pot of her own house blend, a generous value for the money. Suzanne really does elevate the tradition of tea to the most remarkable level and yet with a simplicity that makes it the most relaxing and enjoyable experience for tea lovers and newcomers alike. If you have never had tea at Governor's House in Hyde Park, then you simply have never experienced the real thing. I could not recommend it more highly and thank Suzanne, once again, for this opportunity and for her gracious hospitality.

Listening to the host talk about tea etiquette and the history of tea time perfected the 19th-Century ambiance during a Jane Austen weekend. Splendid!

My wife and I had tea at the govenors house and really enjoyed our visit. Susanne the owner was very gracious. We had tea and scons all very proper so very British or New England. We were treated to a very informative tour of the house after our tea. Lovey restored home. Restored by the owner after 70 years of neglect. The B&B rooms are lovely we hope to book a stay in the near future.

Traditional English afternoon tea in the formal library of the Governor's House, Hyde Park, Vermont. Tea sandwiches, a variety of scones, elegant sweets. Beautifully presented.Having lived in England, I can say this was the real thing.

We recently stayed at Governor's House in Hyde Park, Vermont. The Georgian mansion presides imposingly on the main street of this lovely village between the Opera House (theater ) and the highly individual 19th century church. The scenery, gentle hills and well tended farms, is lusciously pleasing. We entered a spacious hallway with a welcoming sitting-room on one side and a well-furnished library on the other with an elegant stairway facing us. The bedrooms, highly individualized, had comfortable, rather grand beds and luxurious bathrooms. The entire house is filled with lovingly assembled antiques and radiates the harmonious and gracious spirit of the previctorian period. Breakfast was delicious, ample and entirely home-cooked .Suzanne, the widely traveled owner, gladly pointed us to a pursuit of our choice. We found that the area had much to offer; such as hiking, shopping, skiing, fishing and many historical and cultural opportunities. We were delighted by so many enticingly picturesque villages and friendly eateries with splendid , wholesome food.We left Governor's House reluctantly, to be swept back into the whirlwind of modern life. Refreshed, we were grateful for the glimpse afforded us into a more l leisurely and less hectic time.We gladly recommend this excellent establishment.

Une expérience délicieuse. Comme si le temps, enfin, prenait une pause! Des scones moelleux et encore chaud, des sandwiches goûteux et un thé... parfait! Merci Suzanne!
