This small ski area has everything truly needed to learn to ski as well as to improve your style. I took lessons there and was impressed with the emphasis on skiing as opposed to other side attractions that distract from the sport. People come here only to ski; there are no singles clubs, day care centers, or fashion shows. It's small. When the snow isn't good then the skiing isn't good, excepting on the downhill racing slope used by the Middlebury College Ski Team. (fun to watch). You and your family can learn to ski here and you will find challenging trails, as well. The lodge is small, fairly spartan but has what you need for facilities, advice and rentals. I highly recommend it. And, wonder of wonder, the rates are reasonable!

We opted to come ski here over Presidents' Day weekend instead of Sugarbush because this place was a much better value deal. Only $30 for lift tickets and $30 for ski/equipment rental! (half day). The people here were also super nice and helpful with ski/boot fitting. The weather was fantastic - sunny, temperature in the 20s, and only a little windy at the top of the mountain. All of the runs were in great condition as well - awesome snow, thanks to the storms from the previous week.It was also not crowded at all! I never had to wait more than a minute to get on a lift, and there was plenty of open space on the runs. There were even some runs that were almost entirely untouched with lots of fresh powder. For a relatively small mountain, I was able to enjoy the full range of runs and could have easily spent the whole day if we had gotten there earlier.I can't wait to go back!

My grandchildren learned to ski at the Snow Bowl on their Holiday visits. The ski schools runs super programs, the slopes are groomed well, and there are lots of choices . It is rarely too crowded, and it is an intimate setting. The folks who work there are friendly and helpful.

It's small, family-friendly and the ski instructors (especially Bob) are phenomenal with our young children!

This review is not about skiing at the Snow Bowl or the Snow Bowl itself, but really the area around it. On a recent trip, we had such an unexpected, remarkable, beautiful, and singular experience near the Snow Bowl that we wanted to post about it.We visited Middlebury on a vacation and when leaving the area, we took a scenic drive that took us on Route 125, over the mountains. And we've never been so glad to end up on a certain road at a specific time, completely by lucky accident. The weather in Middlebury was partly cloudy, a little bit of sun peeking through. The weather in East Middlebury was cloudy (we stopped at Middlebury Sweets, fantastic candy store, highly recommend it). The weather on 125 leaving East Middelbury was a little rainy. In Bread Loaf the rain was turning to snow. And at the top of the mountain, it was snowing. It was beautiful, snow on every branch of every tree for a stretch of the road at the highest elevation. We stopped the car, turned around, and drove back through, trying to soak in what felt like a really magical experience. As we descended on the other side, towards the junction with Route 100, the snow faded into rain again. But for a few minutes, at the top of a mountain in Vermont, it was an April Winter Wonderland, the kind of thing Irving Berlin wrote about in his song "Snow." Routes 125 and 100 are scenic, travelling through rural Vermont, mountains, and fields, and small towns. If you have the time to take these scenic routes, by all means, do it.

Middlebury College Snow bowl is in Hancock, Vermont on Route 125; not in Londonderry as it is listed on Tripadvisor. It is a great smaller ski area which caters to all skill levels especially when the very challenging Allen and Ross slopes are open. A high percentage of skiiers and boarders at Middlebury are Vermont residents with season passes. This is not a resort but a local ski area frequented by locals. The fact that the ski area is located high in the Green Mountains in Hancock about 12 miles from Middlebury results in pretty good natural snow coverage, even when Middlebury itself may be lacking in snow. The lines are short and the prices are reasonable. Skiing here is like being transported back to the sixties and seventies. That's a good thing.
