We stopped by for "just one," but stayed for four. Our bartender, Taylor, was funny, personable, and extremely attentive. We will be back. Thanks Taylor, for a great Saturday afternoon.

The Dogstar is like the TV show "Cheers" where the bartenders know your name and are sort of like family. This is a place where you can go and chill, sing with the jukebox, or watch the game. You can challenge friends to giant jinga, life sized connect 4, or corn hole on the back patio. I meet new people every time I go, and always see people I know. The very best part to me is we can bring our dog with us, and he loves it. He gets his own bowl of water and Taylor always gives him a treat. Great atmosphere!

I miss the old local stoner bar that had great character, great beer, and great music! I'm here with cheesy 80's music playing from the jukebox and touristy decor! I miss my local hangout!

I spent a couple days in town on business and traveled through a few of the local bars trying to watch the Bills game before ending up in Dog star. Very casual, very friendly atmosphere. Being from New York, I wasn't prepared for some of the bars allowing smoking inside so this place was perfect for me. The bartender Taylor made sure to put the game on I wanted to watch and even suggested some new beers that I ended up liking a lot. No complaints I will hopefully be back again.

This bar is fun and friendly miss tayler is my rockstar keep up the good work. Will be back. Lots of bars around here but the bartender makes it. Just like a cook or server would. Go see her and i promise she has a smile for you. BadCompany.

Went 12/20/14. It is an expensive place for the atmosphere. Beer was pricey. I was surprised at the mediocre attitude of the staff. No table service at all.

The Dog Star Tavern is the best bar on Amelia Island. It's always a good time. Joey is one of the best, most talented bartenders on the island, besides that other guy with the really big beard that used to work there. Great live music and just a cool, chill place to hang out.

My wife and I visited the Dog Star Friday night during our stay in Amelia Island. At first we were hesitant about the bar, the band was very loud and it was a younger crowd, but we were pleasantly surprised. Our bartenders, Joey and Sam, were attentive and helpful and picked me out a great craft beer. I tried the RuinTen IPA, one of their many beers on tap, and my wife had a glass of wine. The bar filled up quickly and we left when it got too busy for our taste, but overall it was a great experience. I highly recommend dropping by this bar if you are in the area!

Thank you for visiting Dog Star Tavern and for taking the time to write this review. We have beers ranging in price from $2 to $7. The higher priced ones are part of our large selection of craft beers and our policy is to let the guest know of pricing when they order. We are very sorry that our policy was not adhered to during your visit. Our staff has been alerted of your review and this will not occur in the future. We would love for you to stop by Dog Star Tavern again and give us another chance to impress you with our service and beer selection.

So, im on this tour de florida. Ive stoped in orlando, daytona, and now jacksonville. ... I saw a cool shirt on a lad and the logo was "Dog Star Tavern", so I looked it up on the old g.p.s. it was 34 minutes away. A small jaunt.... I decided i'd head that way soon and went back to my friends and festivities. A couple of days later, I drove on over to Dog Star and was super happy to hear live music as I walked in. I found out later that it was an open jam night,... but they were so talented that I thought it was a hired on band. The chap behind the counter was a personable lad named Joey. The smile never left his face. :) he seemed to be well liked and I liked that. :) also, a lot of bars dont carry Drambuie. I was in heaven! I strongly suggest you go here.... you wont be sorry. Cheers!

Right in the middle of downtown Amelia Island, Dog Star is close to everything cool Amelia has to offer. Giant Jenga game when you first walk in and a cool Old Florida feel set this bar apart. Open floor plan is great for music and bigger crowds, and they feature everything from crunchy Reggae to authentic Rockabilly. Bartenders are awesome especially the dudes with the beards, great whiskey and beer knowledge too. Overall great spot to have a drink when visiting.

Amelia Island is one of my husband and my favorites vacation spots. This year we stumbled upon Dog Star before dinner one night and were not disappointed! Nice selection of drinks, and Joey our bartender was very welcoming! A few nights later we decided to go back and enjoyed some live music. Joey was the bartender again and remembered us. He was able to talk beer with my husband and made us feel right at home! We will definitely be back!
