In order to enjoy all the nature, museums, state reserves and the Cedar Key's NWR, then you ideally need a week stay. Bring your camera, binoculars, water and bug spray and enjoy the Scrub. Great for off-road biking, hiking or canoeing. Just under 5,000 acres of natural habitat, tidal marsh and cypress swamp. A nature lovers paradise.

The landscape in this area is very similar in nature to the lower nine mile loop. From swampland, grassland, to pine groves. It is a five mile walk with a few water holes. Plenty of birds, but just a good, safe place to hike.

Took a mid-morning walk looking for the Florida Scrub-Jay. No luck, but we saw a number of other birds and had a nice chat with another walker. There is a fairly easy path to follow with minimal elevation change. There was a bathroom and a small playground with picnic tables and grills near the parking area.(Will add info if we ever see the Scrub-Jay!)

Took a 5-mile hike on these trails; beautiful, lots of bird life - bald eagles flying overhead and a family of scrub jays. Trail is a bit rough, some muddy ruts and lots of sandy areas, but a great place to get some exercise and enjoy peace and quiet.

Since we were hiking in the beginning of January on a cold day there wasn't much wildlife to see-but I imagine it would be teeming with things to see if we had come at a different time. Nevertheless, it was a very enjoyable place to have a run.

an awesome place to go hide, write, art, contemplate. Besides the nature awesomeness, this is a beautiful place!

We took a walk to the back end checking how the trail was and the tracks if any.We found many deer and other tracks and the trail needs to be completed for people who are not wearing hunting boots.
