This is a Sarasota gem. Opened a few years ago, drum circle distillery is churning out award winning rum again and again! The spiced was hands down best spiced I've ever had and I've tried many. I drink it like scotch, over a little ice, to be sipped. It is SOON smooth! Only spiced smooth enough to drink on its owm. Then they released the toasted coconut! It is nothing like Malibu or other coconuts. It's a smooth 70 proof rum with natural (real) coconut. It has a slight sweetness to it. I got one of the double bottles. Another sipping rum!I haven't been lucky enough to get one of the Solara method spiced rums yet. But hope springs eternal!

The founder, owner and distiller, Todd, does everything related to the making of the rum from devising the recipes for the various varieties of Siesta Key Rum produced, to the most menial tasks of labeling and packaging the rum for distribution. It is clearly a labor of love and he has been quite successful during the 7 years he has been producing his rum. His rum has won many awards and accolades for the past several years despite the tiny size of his distillery. A hour long tour with free tasting samples makes for an enjoyable diversion while in Sarasota.

The CEO does the tour. He is so interesting and informative. Samples before and samples after. Everything they make is worth buying. Unfortunately the coconut rum was sold out; everywhere. It would be great to have more businesses like this. They really care how the rum is made and what goes into it. Way to go.We signed up for the wait list and got an email saying that we could join the tour. You have to check your email and respond in order to go.

The distillery tour was very entertaining. It starts with a taste of 5 different rums. All are excellent. The tasting room is a very nice space and they have rum, tshirts, candles etc for sale. The tour of the distillery is given by the owner. It's not a walking tour. You can stand or sit while Troy talks about the start of his business and the distilling process. There are only two rooms/areas you will go in.The presentation is interesting and lasts 45-60 minutes. At the end of the presentation, they give out some rum tastings of mixed drinks. It was a good way to spend some time on a rainy day.

All you wanted to learn about rum and more...Interesting talk and tour by the owner Troy Roberts. Be sure to make your free reservations on line, and show up a little early to have some free samples. This tour is informative, and will make you appreciate how much "work" goes into every bottle.

For a two man operation this distillery makes amazing award-winning rum. The tour is given by the owner/founder, Troy Roberts, who is amusing, informative and enthusiastic about his passion. And generous samples of the delicious product can be tried before, after and during the tour. A fun and interesting way to spend a couple of hours and you can purchase bottles of your favorite flavors to enjoy later.

I have lived in SRQ county for over 10 years and just now did this! I am originally from Sonoma County so I have done wine tours before but never a rum tour. I loved that the tour was done by the founder and rum maker. You can really feel the passion they have to make rum not to make money but to live a happy life and to do it making rum. The tastings are free which is incredible and they are generous with their pours. The tour is thorough and he takes all questions if you have any. It is a small operation but a big experience. I really enjoyed it.

The tasting of a variety of craft rums in a cozy tasting room with friendly staff and an informative tour of this operation was truly a unique experience. The founder/distiller, Troy Roberts did a terrific job of explaining why his rums are so deserving of the awards that they have received and the tasting confirmed that for non-experts as well. We highly recommend a tour when you are in the area.

A small operation, that you can see and feel their pride and passion for quality made all natural ingredients in all their Rum products. Very informative tour given by Troy. The samples are fantastic, including samples of a couple drink recipes. This rum is so smooth and delicious. Still trying to purchase the Toasted Coconut .. maybe this weeks batch will be the lucky one. Highly suggest checking out their Drum Circle Distilling tour schedule and enjoying a taste Sarasota's Best 'Siesta Key Rum', you won't drink any other brand ever again !!

Tired of the beach or trying to find something to do on an occasional rainy day, go to Drum Circle Distilling in Sarasota, Florida for a free tour of the rum operation. Troy Roberts, founder, CEO and Distiller, leads an amazing tour of his facility and provides ample samples of his five hand-crafted rums: Siesta Key Toasted Coconut, Distiller's Reserve Spiced Rum, Beer Barrel Finish Spiced Rum, Siesta Key Silver Rum, and Siesta Gold Rum. We found the Toasted Coconut Rum - blended with freshly shredded coconut - to be our favorite.Roberts' rums have won a number of awards and proudly explains how his rum is American made and produced with 100% Florida's sugar cane. He explained how 90% of the store rum is from foreign nations and most use artificial ingredients. All of Roberts' ingredients - such as the shredded coconut - are natural. Presently, Siesta Key Rum is distributed in 14 states, such as New Jersey, Connecticut, and California. Next time you go to buy a bottle of rum - reach for the American-made Siesta Rum. We booked a free tour of Drum Circle Distillery, where Siesta Key Rum us made. The owner, distiller, and almost everything man, Troy Roberts, conducts the tour himself. He was informative and laid back as he showcased how his award winning rum is made. His passion for his craft is infectious. If you're near the Sarasota area, and enjoy even an occassional drink, this is a must do. At the end of the tour (and tasting) we bought a bottle to take home, which Troy signed. Ridiculously cool. Book a tour on Drum Circle Distillery's website, you, won't regret it.

If you have an extra hour or 2 to spend in Sarasota, visit this place. They didn't have any tours scheduled when we went, but the owner was happy to tell us how he makes this great rum! Had a tasting, and of course left with a few bottles!

This was my third visit to the Siesta Key distillery, in the last year. Although it is tucked away, it's always well worth a visit. Troy has created some fantastic and unique rums, always adding new ideas and passion to the mix, creating something special. We will enjoy our latest purchase over a Scottish Hogmanay.

For such a small operation, the owner are to be commended for producing a very smooth and delightfully tasting product. Too bad we could only buy two bottles. Hopefully it will be available in Canada someday.

Most interesting to hear from the actual person who formed and developed the company - a true inspiration!
