Took this boat ride on a hot Florida day...it was very relaxing and cool...need to bring a sweater but they do provide some blankets for those who get really chilly...also provide bottled water for $1 but you need cash for this. There is a airplane size bathroom at the back of the boat....tour runs about 2 plus hours and very informative about the history of MT Dora and many of the birds, etc found there. The ride thru Dora canal is awesome and yes there are many gators large, small you might catch a glimpse of. The tour guide/captains are great. We traveled with two of our family members in walkers and was not a problem getting them on board.

Heritage Nature Tours of the Dora Canal and Dead River. I have taken this tour on my last two trips to Tavares and I love it. It is like traveling back in time. Cedar trees and spanish moss, great blue herons, egrets, osprey abound. Turtles and alligators. The Captain slows for photos and often puts the boat in reverse to give everyone a good chance to see and take photos. 90 min. for $20.00 and it is well worth it. Relaxing and peaceful.
