Joe and his boat rentals are a poor varity. His seafood is not all local. And his lobsters are frozen even a few season old

All was well at the fish market! Good choices! We chose mahi and grouper and both were of really good quality.

Joe also runs a boat rental, but there is no trip advisor page for it. Contacted him on line and reserved a boat. Showed up and the boat was not there. Talked to other boat rental companies down the street and apparently he emails pictures of boats he does not own to potential renters. His website is keysboat.com avoid

My husband and I spent a few days in the Keys around Memorial Day. We were renting a houseboat and the owner had recommended Summerland Seafood when we asked about a local seafood market. It was the most unusual seafood market we have ever been in. We are used to either having the seafood on display or at menu board with what's on offer and the prices. This was just a little shop/shack on the side of the road and the owner had a couple of deep freezes at with seafood. He asked what we were looking for and we said we were just looking for fresh seafood. He told us that he had mahi, hog snapper, shrimp, and scallops. We asked for a pound of mahi, a pound of the hog snapper, and a pound of shrimp. We probably would have bought more but the total for the 3 pounds of seafood was $65! (We have an excellent seafood market near our home where we got weekly and I just bought 5 pounds of seafood for $35 so it was a bit of sticker shock at this market especially since it didn't appear to have any overhead). We cooked the hog snapper the first night and it was excellent. Super fresh and delicious. We cooked the mahi the next night it was good, but there were several small bones still in the fish which we did not like. The shrimp were very fresh even 2 days after we bought them. Overall the seafood was very high quality, so if you don't mind spending a bit for it, then I would recommend Summerland Seafood.

Great stone crab claws and shrimp! Joe, the owner, is the nicest guy and really made us feel welcomed to the Keys!
