Stopped in to check out the park early on a Sunday morning. It was packed with trucks and boat trailers. No parking available.. And I'm on a motorcycle! Extremely busy boat ramp with access to Lake Griffin. This park doesn't have much to do if you don't boat or fish. Lots of wildlife for being so close to the highway tho. There is a picnic area, public pier, and a historical train (an old steam locomotive from the Cummer Lumber Company). There are also port-o-pots if you can't hold it. The park was dedicated in 1975 to local citizens Albert Sydney and Cora K. Herlong. Worth checking out just for the train or to take pictures.

Herlong Park is located alongside busy US 441 and it is NOT in a quiet wildlife setting, yet beautiful birds flock to the area likely due to the fisherman: Limpkins, Great Blue Herons, Great Egrets, Little Blue Herons, Pileated Woodpeckers, Osprey, White Ibis, etc. There are shelters and picnic tables. The boat ramp is fairly busy for such a small area. A fishing pier usually has one or two fishermen and others pull up a chair along the bank. Portable restrooms are on site as well. It's a quick little spot to pull off the busy highway and feel like you've stepped into a nature preserve.
