Very interesting and informative tour. Captain Lee goes out of his way to make sure you see plenty of alligators. My personal favorite was all the baby gators. Really enjoyable and recommend it as a great way to spend an hour and 20 minutes.

Captain Lee's is a one-man operation out of the marina on Lake Istokpoga in Lake Placid. We heard about from literature at Harder Hall Resort in Sebring and called up to make reservations for four at $50 a pop. When you arrive, there are toilet facilities at the marina bar. Lee's airboat is a short walk away in a nicely manicured lake inlet. Captain Lee is a SW Florida local who used to work for the state wildlife service and before that he was a cowboy. When you see him, you will believe it. He's very knowledgeable out the lake's wildlife. On arrival, he gives you a short briefing, provides ear muffs but no seat belts, and tells you about the life vest and the gators in the water. His modus operandi is to drive the (noisy) boat to a suitable area of the Lake, idle the engine, and give his guests briefings on the locations of the gators and en route to identify local birds. The emphasis of his talks is very much on the gators rather than the many different species of birds to see, although he was able to identify different birds as we came across them.I really enjoyed the tour, which takes about 1hr 20 mins because it takes place on an almost deserted lake with lots of interesting wildlife. We have done the airboat tours in Everglades City but I preferred this one because it was somewhat less touristy in a much more peaceful setting. The views on the lake on the beautiful day on which we took our tour were absolutely spectacular. We saw quite a few gators, including one13 foot guy lazing in the sun, and also some little baby ones. But, we also saw an enormous eagle nest with the male eagle nearby, as well as lots of other birds some of which I had never seen before, including a purple gallinule and a common gallinule.Highly recommended. Will probably do it all over again when we visit next year. One change I would recommend to Capt Lee, however, is to install some radio intercom gear. I was sitting next to Lee on the back row and could hear him well but those sitting on the front row told me that they could not hear him very well.

Captain Lee provides an awesome tour of Lake Istokpoga in Florida. Our daughter wanted to see alligators while we were visiting central Florida we chose Captain Lee and the Bullfrog Airboat tour after speaking with him and getting information about his tour. When we arrived I thought it would be fun to see alligators in their natural habitat but the tour was so much more than that. Captain Lee has many years of experience and provides a history of the lake and its echo system. Yes we did see several alligators, including babies about 2 weeks old, but we also saw many types of native plants and birds. I highly recommend Captain Lee and Bullfrog Airboat tour to anyone. Personal service, knowledge and a true appreciation of nature.

If you're looking for something to do outdoors around Sebring/Lake Placid this is a lot of fun. We went on a partly sunny afternoon in December with the temperature around 80. You'll be given ear protection and he has the required lifejackets within reach. We had 4 people in our group ranging in weight from 155-200 each. I believe they can take up to 6 depending on weight. You'll want to pick a calm sunny day if you want to see alligators. Captain Lee is very familiar with the area and knows where the alligators like to sun themselves. He is very mindful to not disturb them and most of them hardly moved when we idled by. There were all different sizes and ages. The largest we saw was around 13'. Captain Lee also offers a lot of details about the alligators as well as other animals and Lake Istokpoga. The tour lasted around an hour and twenty minutes to an hour and a half. It cost us $50/person. I'm not sure if that changes based on the number in your group. It was easy to find. Our group all agreed that even if we hadn't seen all the alligators the air boat ride was worth the trip.
