This long stretch of national seashore is a great place to bike. There is a 5 foot bike lane in each direction. It is a smooth, flat 12 mile stretch between pensacola beach and navarre beach. There are several parking areas along the way with bathrooms if you need them. Te beach is huge and white with turquoise water on the gulf side, and natural dunes and vegetation on the east bay side. Sometimes the path is a bit covered in sand, which necessitates swerving into the lane, but it is only for a moment. It looks a lot like Race point Beach on Cape Cod. Remember how if you hike into the Grand Canyon, the rangers warn you to allow twice as much time to climb back up as to descend? When you go west you are going with the wind. When you turn around, you are going into the wind--and you will pedal your heart out and go half the speed! Be warned! :)

The beauty of the area--white beaches, sand dunes, march grass and the historic Fort Pickens. We learned a lot about barrier islands and their role as we drove along the beach and visited the fort several times.

Everyone just go park by the big beach ball on Pensacola Beach and stay away from here! The white sand and turquoise water are the most gorgeous unspoiled area of Florida there is. The birds flying over and walking along the shore are very nice to share their territory with us. There are few bathrooms, small parking areas, and NO damn highrises, bars and shops. If you want to just sit or swim, or fly a kite, I guess I have to share with you, but clean up after yourself, don't climb the dunes and if you dig a hole, fill it in before you leave.

The beaches here are one of a kind with amazing white sand offering beautiful views. This is without doubt the best beach I have ever seen. The beaches are less crowded also. Nice place to take amazing pictures with white sand in the background.

The drive along this seashore is very beautiful and beats the heck out of the traffic mess on Highway 98. A few places to stop along the way to get out and take a walk on the beach. Lots of seabirds ... to include blue herons. Fun drive. Also some small shops, bars and bistros along the route worth checking out.

The drive along Gulf Islands National Seashore between Navarre Beach & Pensacola Beach is so splendid it truly takes your breath away! The powdery white sand and blue-green water merge to create an unforgettable image. Huge, unspoiled white, vegetation-covered sand dunes dot the landscape. This is a natural wonder not to be missed!!!

We love so many of the gulf beaches in mid/south Florida, we thought we had seen it all. We arrived at Pensacola Beach by crossing the bridge from Navarre Highway 399 on to Navarre Beach. Here properties are shooting up but as you drive west along the coast 399 they peter out and you are left with amazing mile after mile of dunes leading to pure white sugary sand beaches. Numerous parking lots (small) to pull in and grab some of the beach and take in the sheer solitude that can be found here. As you cruise the 18 miles from Navarre beach to Pensacola Beach, you find yourself back into civilization and more hussle & bussle with beach bars, hotels and a few places to eat. Not overly developed at the moment, lets hope the stretch stays just as it is for everyone to experience.

I have been to beaches all over the world and this one truly is bowl you over beautiful. I instantly feel happy when I walk on to it. The National Seashore & Pensacola Beach farther down are really the best to idle away a day reading or hanging on the beach with friends. Brilliant white sand (with the consistency of brown sugar), pristine views both ways, green clear water. So beautiful & calming. When it's warm enough to swim it is even more heavenly. But Spring, Summer, Winter or Fall, when the sun is shining that's where I want to be when I'm in the area.

We really enjoyed the entire area. Enjoyed visiting the Live Oaks Tree Plantation with the history and setting.

Soft white sand, beautiful blue green water. Some picnic pavilions and bath house (which was closed due to winter season cold). Naturally the beach was not crowded due to the weather but I would guess it may be in the summer. I will definitely be back again.
