Was initially skeptical having read other reviews. Gave it a try and was not disappointed. Relatively forgiving course. Easy to get to off I-95. Free refills on fountain drinks purchased in snack bar. Good fix for 4 rambling golfers looking to get in 18 hole round while traveling from Hilton Head, SC to Orlando, Fl. The abandoned holes raised our curiosity and caused us to think of what must have been at one time. RKK

We went back after taking a lengthy time away. Big mistake. Just an awful experience. We started off well enough, I was playing one over par thru 8 holes and then it all stopped. A three some two holes in front of us held up play and the twosome in front of us was taking 8 to 10 shots to get to the green and then squatting to eyeball their putts. Hey, slow twosome who can't hit the ball over 25 yards, why are you squatting to putt? Ha, the greens were recently aerated and sanded and were a mess anyway. They must have seen that on TV. Anyway, 1.75 hours to play front nine. The back 9 took 4 more hours. Almost 6 hours total to play 18 and the course was not crowded. That 3 some and that 2 some in from of us took it all out of me. My score ballooned as the temperature went up to over 106 with heat index as we stood around in the sun waiting to play. Lots of single players on the course who were also holding up play. Counted at least 10 in close proximity to each other and no attempt to pair them up by staff. Regarding staff, they act like could care less and are rude at times. I sure hope they aren't public employees, they need to be contract employees and held accountable. The closed 9, used to be the east course, is now an eyesore. Either reopen it, the best 9 on the course or bulldoze it. Also, multiple yardage markers on some holes giving different yardages to green from the same spots. Need I go on? No. We're done with it. I'd say good luck but I hope the mess closes up or is privatized.

I have golfed here twice. While the staff isn't rude, they don't go out of the way to impress either. Only one person I have seen I would say was nice. The rest just seem like they are there until it's ready to go home. The course isn't in the greatest shape by a long shot. Most greens are like a sand pit and some of the fairways are so bad that our cart got stuck in mud. I found this funny as it hadn't rained in weeks... so they must totally overwater the course which its why it's all dying. I don't need a fancy course though as I have golfed at other places just as bad or even worse and I am not a Pro by any means. Just the experience and price makes this so much worse. Also, horrible horrible slow play. The first time we went was worse than the second as it took 4 guys 8 hours, yes 8 to play 18 holes. Just this last time it took three guys 6 hours to play 18 holes... that's kind of rediculous. We have played many other courses and it usually only takes 3-4 hours. For another course thats much friendlier and cheaper (not in the greatest shape though) go to the St. Augustine Shores Golf Club. Much nicer atomosphere. Not a fancy place by any means, but a nice place to have a good time, have a beer, and lose some balls in the water ha. Laid back and people there actually make conversation...

You are not going to find pristine conditions at this course and nor you should. What you are going to find is a good layout outstanding staff and a very enjoyable round especially for the price you pay. I played in twice while staying in ST Augustine and both round, one during the week and the other on a weekend were played around the 4 hour mark. The starter was the same both days and this gentleman really knows how to pair players up. My hat is off to St Johns.

I don''t know quite what to say. Nice course, beautiful area in spite of the houses. Problem is, over booked and extremely slow pay. The slowest play in the area and that says a lot. 1:30 tee time, and they forced us play with another two some. Now, I like to play and relax with a round of golf with my wife but the starter always makes us play with a two some of men or a single male. Come on now, at least ask if we''ll pair up, don''t just force it. It took from 1:30 until 6:15 to complete 18 holes today. At least we finished, we saw 10 t0 15 groups in front and behind us give it up and leave after the front 9. It was pitch black when we finished. Not a ranger is sight enforcing pace of play and that''s because there is no pace of play. We may see this course in May after all the sunbirds and tourists leave but I doubt it. A waste of time and money.

I was a little disappointed with the care and maintenance of the golf course, some of it was and I understand will continue to be closed. It is a shame because it has real potential. I'm glad I played there but it is a one time only experience.

This used to be a really nice course, but they closed 9 holes last season so there are only 18 now. Weekends it's too crowded because the price is so reasonable. Play is very slow. The course is full of local yokels who have no clue when it comes to golf etiquette. So play on a weekday when they're all at work. I've seen alligators and poisonous snakes on this course. Don't go into the rough to retrieve a ball.

We have been playing this course for three years now and have seen a steady decline in the quality of the course conditions, the pace of play and the behavior of the golfers. There are a lot, I mean majority of beginners and seniors playing the course and this is not a bad thing but they seem to have no concept of proper golf etiquette. I mean, if you want to go slow and pair up in 5 somes and more somes, ball hawk, socialize and hang out, let the faster players play through! Not at SJCC! They refuse to move, they revel in it! Worse yet, no rangers to take control of the mess. This is constipated golf, it's agonizingly slow! We just experienced it again. And after 5 long hours, as the sun was setting, out came the locals, playing for free, carrying their clubs creating new golf jams. In April 2011 the plan is to pare the course down to 18 from 27. OMG, it's slow play now, I cannot imagine what will happen then. We will not be back. A waste of time and money. Best advice? Just skip it, the folks who live on the course act like it's their private playground. Spend the extra $ and go to a semi private course. This place is being mismanaged into the ground.

We played this course while on vacation. The greens were in terrible shape. They barely had grass on them. The members on the course were rude. I would not recommend!!

I have played this course many times but very few in the last year due to having an "execGolf" card this last year. First, the people working at the course I had no problems with, this were very polite and professional. "BUT" the course is expensive when compared to the prices you get the the ExecGolf card. The condition on the course I would rate as a "d" the grass off the fairways were not mowed and you can lose a lot of balls due to the "ruff" conditions. If you did not play other courses you might think it is in great condition but compared to other courses in St Johns/Flagler county it doesn't even compare. I would not go back to play this course again until changes are made unless it would be to use the range only.
