the boxcar cafe & gift shop

A unique little place to grab a coffee or other comfort food. Very helpful and pleasant owners who keep the place spotless. They add to the downtown Dunedin atmosphere.

This little place is handy for a really good coffee, post cards or souvenirs. We loved the fact is was a very short walk from the Inn.

With visitors in town, we decided to spend the day in the downtown of Dunedin (a great place to visit if you like small town shops and charm). Out of all the times I had visited Dunedin, I had never been inside the Boxcar. The Boxcar reminds me of the small country shops that I grew up with. It is part of the historical society and attached to the city's train depot Museum. I really like the true mom-and-pop feel of this place. They have local (made local) themed gifts and basic coffee(a Great dark roast flavor), muffins/bagels, snacks and quick to-go items. They keep it simple/the basics, like in the past (nothing overly fancy or ostentatious). While there, the girl at the counter gave us some history on the town and the railroad, and was very informative on the things to do/see around town and area. She was like a mini-info booth or Chamber of Commerce. I am glad to have found this little cafe/shop. I will be back.
