pinot's palette

I loved painting here, I have been more than once. There was one person at the front painting and instructing us and another walking around to help us as needed! The class is taught in a manner that someone who is not familiar with painting could easily take a class and end up with a great painting! It was a very fun class, the direction was wonderful & the paints looked good. I have painted at other places with dull paints that didn't look as nice on the canvas so this was really nice to have better paints! They also have a bar to buy drinks if you wish! I will go again!

This was my second painting class (my first was a month prior with Painting with a Twist). I signed up for the paint your pet class. The instructor was HORRIBLE. She did not provide any techniques to help you paint. She spent too much time finishing her example painting instead of walking around assisting the group. The atmosphere felt more like a sales room than a relaxed painting class. The entire time I was pushed to purchase alcohol, sign up and pay for another class, buy the $35 frame, etc. I become very frustrated with my artwork and ask the assistant on 3 separate occasions to help me paint my pet's foot and ear back into the picture and the assistant just told me that she could see the foot and that the picture was fine. The acrylic paint was so OLD and DRIED out. The 3 paint brushes that were provided we overly used and I was unable to create a single stroke (like a simple whisker) without the stroke having 3 or 4 flairs from it because the brush was so old and damaged from hard, repeated use. I did not enjoy my 3 hours, I made it clear to the instructor I was not happy with the painting along the way and needed assistance, but received ZERO help. I will NOT return to Pinot's Palette nor do I recommend their services. If you are new to painting and want to be in a relaxed environment with instructors that provide tips and suggestions while you paint then I suggest using Painting with a Twist. Also, Painting with a Twist offers a S.O.S. class once a month were you can bring your painting in and they will provide you with the materials and services to get you happy with your painting - free of charge.
