the arboretum of south barrington

The Arboretum is South Barrington’s newest and most exciting place to shop, dine and play. The open-air center is named for the lush treescapes and gardens of its landscape, and for the large tree farm that formerly stood on the site. An upscale mix of shops, restaurants and entertainment venues including iPic Theaters, the ultimate cinema experience and a new way to go to the movies.At first I was shocked to learn that a tree-farm was bull-dozed to 'put up a parking lot' but when you consider the designers incorporated over 80 species of trees, 20,000 perennials and 10,000 grasses into this landscape, you can begin to appreciate the almost "Disney World" like quality of this place.Only complaint I have is the myriad of roads and laneways that can be confusing to navigate.I would recommend a lot of speed bumps be installed to reduce traffic speeds so that little shoppers don't get smushed while navigating the sidewalks and laneways between shops.
