Beautiful course. Wonderful staff! I have hosted a few golf outings there for work and they always receive rave reviews!!!

Was only at the cemetery. It has many gravesites and has been expanding for many years. There are a lot of important people buried there in addition to local people from several different wars.

My husband and I visited the Rock Island Arsenal in October 2014. We live within 2 hours of the area, have visited the Quad Cities multiple times but never been to the arsenal. We were thoroughly impressed! The buildings themselves were impressive as were the museum and the whole island really! The Arsenal museum was very nice; lots more information than I expected. The display in the park of the military guns was kind of sad. It really makes you think of those who served and lost their lives with these weapons of mass destruction. A great historical reminder!

Rock Island arsenal is a beautiful tribute to our history. My father being a career Airforce man looks forward to his visits there monthly

A group of barges was just going through the locks so my husband had wonderful opportunities to take photos & watch the bridge swing open. He was warned to keep his camera aimed toward the locks and not toward the arsenal. We didn't have time to see the rest of the history there unfortunately. Interesting exhibits in the visitors center.

Be sure to visit the lock and dam and see how river barges travel up and down the Mississippi River. Very interesting visitor's center with interactive displays for the whole family. Extra special if you happen to see a tug and barges going thru the lock.

Interesting experience. Getting into the facility was a bit of a challenge requiring ID, etc. Enjoyed it.

If you are keeping up with the Civil War in its sesquicentennial, then Rock Island Confederate Cemetery is a stop to make while in the QuadCities. The Arsenal offers, in addition to a chance to honor the fallen of our nation's conflict, a great view of the Mississippi Locks and Dam #15. It'a a worthy educational experience for young and old. Other important stops to make while on the Island is the Arsenal Museum, Fort Armstrong, and the Davenport home. This little tour can easily take the day, so pick a day with the weather holding out for all the stops to make at this important stretch of America's River. The museum is not open on Sundays or holidays and the Locks and Dam visitor Center is closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year.

This place was unbelievable even on a Sunday when the museum and shops were closed. Just to drive around and observe the old, and very well maintained, buildings was awe inspiring. Not only the past but the present production of military hardware and munitions is extremely impressive. If these walls could talk! A must see during the week when a full tour could be done is definitely on my list.

It is a nice place to visit and it is free. We go to this area to camp a lot. There a lot of things to do and see.

It was a wonderful visit to the Museum at Rock Island Arsenal! My husband and I are both lovers of military history so it was really a treat when our nephew suggested this.I wasn't writing reviews on Trip Advisor last year when we did this tour but saw it come up after I posted a Rock Island review of another venue today so thought I would give it a whirl. The Museum is about the only thing you can go into on the Island but you can drive around the island and that is definitely interesting. The Rock Island Arsenal is one of the biggest employers in the area. If you like military history, take the tour!

The Rock Island Arsenal is an active US Army facility with lots of history. It is on the National Register of Historic Places and is a landmark, and today is the largest government owned and operated arsenal. To that end, you do need to go through a guard post to get in, and anyone over 16 years of age does need to show a valid ID.You could spend an entire day here. Here are some of the highlights that we did: The Arsenal Museum, which is probably the one thing you should see if you are short on time. Memorial Field, which is dedicated to those in the Armed Forces who died in World War II. Sherman tanks, the "Ontos", anti-aircraft guns are all here. The Confederate Cemetery, which is row upon row of white markers designating confederate prisoners of war who died here, 1,964 in all. The Arsenal Golf Club, which will "wow" you. It is open to the public and you can golf along the Mississippi. The hydroelectric plant that supplies power to the arsenal's buildings. There is much more to see. All interesting and historical.

I stopped counting at 150! That is enough information to send anyone who wishes to see bald eagles. The Rock Island Arsenal offers an excellent opportunity for a quick, free and unbelievable chance to see these great birds. It is simple, drive to the west side of the Arsenal, you do not have to enter the Arsenal, park next to the block house, walk twenty paces to the rail and gawk. Bring your camera because people will not believe you when you tell them the number of eagles you have seen.

You could spend a day visiting the Rock Island Arsenal. Near the Moline enrance is the US National Cemetary and the historical Confederate Cemetary. Midway along Rodman Avenue, there is an exhibit of army tanks, big guns and other armaments. The Arsenal museum offers additional exhibits of the various armaments and equipment manufacturing done at the arsenal over it's many years of operation. At the Rock Island end of the arsenal, visit the Lock and Dams and watch river traffic pass through the locks.
