We wrote before our travels and received a lot of information from Galesburg Visitors Center. The brochures were impressive. We stopped for directions and caught the staff of 2 on a busy day. The phone calls coming in were more important than our in-person inquiry, so we waited for 10-15 minutes while the staff took care of callers. The staff was able to answer questions, but did not go out of their way to suggest or offer more than the requested info. There was no PROMOTION of Galesburg. There might have been more to see or do!!!!

We stopped by right at opening time on Saturday to get some information for our weekend stay in Galesburg. No one was there so we had to leave. We stopped back after opening on Sunday and by 11:20 there was still no one there. I guess it's staffed by volunteers and there must be a lack of help. I was disappointed I was not able to get any local souvenirs or inside information on the best places in town to visit.

I have just passed by this visitor centre when arriving from the interstate into Galesburg. It's not in the Town-centre but a couple of minutes' drive and Close to Taco Bell on East Main Street. Anyway there is a big chair outside the building so you can't miss it. I have been in touch with the visitor's centre through their web site and by e-mail while asking questions about Galesburg area. I had quick and friendly answers. Since we were going to the USA and Galesburg again last summer I asked for info through their website and like last time I had a package with lots of good stuff, brochures etc for planning the trip . So nice of them to send all that. A big thank you to the visitors' Bureau!

As soon as we got into Galesburg, we stopped here. They have so much info, and they printed off kid friendly activities going on in town that weekend so we would have more to do. I cant believe how much info on things to do they have!
