ike's

I've not been to Ike's for many years. It is right across the street from EIU and always was quite the college hangout. I was there back in the days when the coeds had to be in by 9:00pm on weeknights and that really emptied the place out.Times have changed but still a good place to have a beer and tell old stories of the old days.

We visited our son at EIU and after a long drive, we wanted a good burger and a cold beer. Since Ike's is directly across the street from the university it was a logical choice. Right away, we were delighted with the cleanliness of the place. Since it is primarily a bar, the menu is short but the burgers are no disappointment. Hand formed- not that perfectly round frozen patty others seem to favor. And the fries were just delicious. Very thin and crispy, yet creamy potato on the inside. Nice selection of beers, too.
