Seeing Peter Yarrow of Peter Paul and Mary was a wonderful experience. I have seen the trio many times before and also his solo act before. His contribution to society cannot be over emphasized. The problem we had was not with Peter Yarrow but from the guests seated at the stage tables, Our front row seats were almost completely blocked by the people in front of us at these tables. If these tables were eliminated it would be no loss and a much better experience for the rest of us The fellow also appeared drunk and fell over into the table and his wife had to help him up. Even after my wife asked him to sit down he continued standing and obstructing our view. Not the theaters fault but eliminating those tables would help

This past week I went with a group of friends to see Bible Bingo at the Metropolis. Wonderful theater with comfy seats and no bad sight lines. Staff was friendly and helpful and the play was loads of fun. Parking was free and convenient. We ate in the building and enjoyed the Mexican cuisine. Can't wait to go back. Great for those of us who live in the burbs and don't want to battle the traffic and parking issues of going into the city.

So, I bought my tickets through Goldstar many weeks ago. My grandchildren were in town, and we had scheduled our Christmas week around the play. Three hours before the play, we were called and told our tickets were canceled because they were OVERSOLD. The theatre admitted they were in the wrong and offered tickets for Christmas Eve--which would not work for us as we were not available. SO, my present to my granddaughters was CANCELED--because of someone's mismanagement. We were so disappointed--this was just so wrong and really spoiled my gift to them and my plans, etc. I bet the play was really good!! My granddaughters had their outfits all picked out and everything. We scrambled and went to Gurnee Mills to hopefully find Santa--he wasn't there. We were really SCROOGED!!!! NOT A GOOD DAY!!!!

This is out a bit from the city but is a nice theater with excellent performers. They have a varied season and good shows. Parking is easy and there are many decent restaurants around the theater. We especially enjoyed the Grand Station Restaurant next door. Hint. Forget the traffic and take the train. The train station is a block and a half away.

This is a very comfortable small theater that truly does not have a bad seat in the house. The current production Dial M For Murder, is quite entertaining (after a somewhat slow start to set up the plot) and well acted. Seats are comfortable, sight lines are fine, the staff is friendly and there are great restaurants nearby (especially Mag Grill). Lots of parking in the garage around the corner.

We have a yearly ticket package with friends. Great atmosphere with inspiring actors. A multitude of different agendas and plays. Not broadway, but nice opportunity for local actors and others to perform to their hearts content. Buy tickets early. Thursday nights 730 show time is perfect

Family viewing of child's annual dance program. Intimate seating, with great views of stage. Good sound system, and easy access to parking.

Have seen bands, plays, and Second City here. Great venue with good acoustics; intimate atmosphere! Support local theater and enjoy. Especially like the Second City Christmas revues!

This was our first time at the Metropolis Performing Arts Centre in Arlington Heights and it was amazing. The theater is small and personal and there isn't a bad seat in the house. The accoustics were good. Ticket prices are different for each performance/concert. We are glad that we purchased tickets to a different performance next month and looking forward to going back!

We saw our second production (The Last 5 Years) last night, and confirmed that this is a great theater spot: Good sized house, but not too big, and as others have said, all seats are good. There are ample restrooms and a decent sized lobby. Box office staff are helpful. There is a free, public parking garage just a few blocks away, and MANY reasonable restaurants for a pre- or post-show bite. Really easy, convenient, affordable...everything theater in the city is NOT. Last 5 Years was a fine production of an acclaimed script, and both leads were talented and professional. I don't recall which production we saw last year, but it was just as good. We understand that not every production in this type of company is going to be "stellar"; they're called "Reviews," folks...look 'em up and read them (try the Internet!!) before you buy.By the way: I had laughed at another reviewer who said it wasn't very professional for one of the theater crew members to made himself audible, and then drop a candy wrapper, in the middle of a production. But then it happened last night: Twice, in the middle of the show, a second-level door at stage right opened up, spilling light into the darkened theater. Now, I agree: Come on, people: Be professional!!

Metropolis Theater was a fantastic place to see Heartache Tonight (A Tribute to The Eagles)! The show was so great that our group plans on attending another Heartache Tonight event this year. You can view their event calendar by going to their web site at www.heartachetonight.com. I highly recommend finding a Heartache Tonight performance in your area, you won’t be disappointed. The Metropolis Theater is small but quaint and there wasn’t a bad seat in the house. Drinks were available for purchase before the show and during intermission and you can bring drinks into the theater. Cup holders are built into the armrest of the seats. Plenty of free parking near the theater or take the train as the theater is within easy walking distance.

Beautiful little theater with adjacent restaurants and easy parking. All theaters have an occasional show that doesn't go over as well as expected, but the large majority we've seen there have been great. Looking forward to Last Five Years -- it's one that's been on my list for awhile.

I wish I read the reviews of "Greater Tuna" BEFORE we purchased tickets for this production at the Metropolis. We try and support "Theater Week" and thought we would try a local production instead of always going into the city for theater. What a mistake! What would make the Metropolis chooses this play? Even the Playbill had not a blurb about the authors or a general synopsis of what the play was about. It was satire gone wrong! Mean spirited and just awful! The actors tried hard, i really don't fault them, but the "story" was tedious and insulting to all the brave souls that stayed to the end. The theater itself was lovely, although only about 1/2 full on a Saturday night. I guess more people had heard about this production and stayed away. Lucky them! When we left a group of 4 were leaving and one man was shaking his head and muttering ''Horrific!". That about sums it up. Save your money.

In a effort to support certain organizations and efforts, I often find myself trying too hard. This is the case with my subscription purchases at the Metropolis. Every couple of years I seem to forget how bad the productions are, and I will again invest in a set of four tickets for the four productions. Last night we saw the second of this years unfortunate investment, entitled Greater Tuna", and had to leave early because it was torturous. We wanted to leave after the first five minutes, but decided to give it more time. It went from bad to worse. Our village continues to throw money at this misguided theater in attempt to lure more unsuspecting victims to downtown Arlington Heights. Guess what? I think the word is out, the theater was only about 1/3 full (and it doesn't have many seats). We went to see one production in all of our years of subscribing that was maybe passable. It was called "On This Island" . It was maybe 10 years ago, possibly longer. We still have 8 tickets left for our subscription. I doubt we will go, as we are running out of friends who will go with us to these awful productions. Our friends are dropping like flies from our invitations to the Metropolis.

The actors were good -- the play was absolutely horrible. People on either side of us left at intermission. We stayed hoping it would get better. It didn't. The actors/script made fun of Agent Orange, every ethnic group in the US -- and the audience was stunned at the insensitivity. Stage props looked less than professional -- a high school could do better than this.Metropolis has lost sight of entertainment and serving people with an enjoyable evening, and a fun experience.
