Be prepared to wade back and forth across the river. It never got close to our knees but definitely over the tops of our hiking boots.

Trip to Aravaipa Canyon is well worth! I did 3 day backpacking trip in October and really enjoyed the fall weather in the canyon. This is a easy water hike. You can hike through the canyon and choose one of the many campsite around. Beautiful views, lots of wildlife.

First, you must have a 4 wheel drive vehicle to get there and not be a nervous driver. But the drive is alone is quite an experience. The trail was so lovely-around each bend was a different vista. We like "off-the-beaten-path and this certainly fit that description.

Been in AZ for years but never explored this wonderful habitat. Two of us got in on a Sunday because of a cancellation, otherwise it requires advance reservations. Came in from Aravaipa Road end, other end is Turkey Creek. Beautiful scenic river that you can hike in or there is a trail that parallels the river and crosses it frequently. Will be going again.

We drove out to look at the canyon but, it was a bit cold and windy and we didn't hike. Nice place to go back to in the spring or summer.

Aravaipa Canyon is the most beautiful natural habitat I have seen in the Southern Arizona area. There is year round water in the streams, so many trees, wildlife in its natural habitat, not to mention the historic background with the cliff dwellings so accessible. Camping is at its best with such a beautiful view of the stars and the peaceful nights. The mountains surrounding the canyon are amazing. Mother Nature is astounding.I would recommend a weekend get away to Aravaipa. I can't wait to go back!

This is probably the nicest hike in the state at low elevation, you can even go there in the summer because you stay cool in the shaded canyon and you must cross the creek so many times. Do not miss out on this place, it is not well known but it is spectacular.
