Let Jelena and her husband show you the beauty of this place at your own pace...they will do so in a manner that you will appreciate forever. They are humble, loving and caring people that know every corner of this place and they just want to share its beauty with you. If you have any questions, just ask them-they are very knowledgable, yet they will not talk much if they see you enjoying the serenity of the place and the incredible meditative state you get in once you are outthere....perfect hosts, perfect companions for this incredible trip. Treat yourselves to the very best!

We planned to get this trip last year, but was not possible due to bad weather conditions. This year we managed to do it. Jelena (our contact person) remembered me when we spoke on the phone and it was a real nice feeling. We were not disappointed by the trip at all! Also her husband who was our guide was very nice, he told us all we wanted to know and did his best to present us the beautiful lake! If you stay anywhere near don't miss out this trip!

We had a wonderful 2 hour trip on the lake with this boat. It was a very nice experience. Our guide was very friendly and caring, eager to make our trip on the lake a great experince and she succeded. It was nice to go on a small boat instead on a large boat in a group. We felt very well looked after and appreciated the personal touch. We also got some useful and interesting information about Montenegro in general, including great restaurant tips.

I got the recommendation to go with this boat when going to Virpazar from a French couple and it was worth to instist to go with this boat. I arrived pretty late in Virpazar and just found an accomodation when looking for the owners of boat Milica. I was so glad that they took me on the boat trip at this time and so I could see the sunset over the lake. It was such a wonderful trip and the explanations and chats were really great. I got to know so much interesting things from these lovely people that I can just say Thank you again. I definetly recommend an overnight stay in Virpazar and a trip on the lake with boat Milica.Caroline from Berlin

I get a lot of visitors in recent years to my humble abode in nearby Podgorica, and this boat service, promoted by Jelena , driven by her man and their 2 girls are all lively characters - Skadar Lake is usually first on the list of the many highlights for visitors to Montenegro and my guests always enjoy the lake, and the familiar atmosphere of their boat serice, with a shot of Rakija or local vino helps, the other Skadar lake boat service I have used caters for the larger groups, "Milica s" is popular with small groups with perhaps more particular demands, higlhly recommended and excellent value.

This two hour trip was a perfect introduction for my parents in law's first trip to Montenegro and Skadar Lake. The family were welcoming, informative and really fun to be with. the highlight of my five year old's two week holiday to Montenegro was helping to steer the boat though the lily pads. We have promised to come next year and to try the 3 hour trip with traditional cuisine. Every aspect highly recommended.

One of the highlights of our visit to Montenegro was Skadar Lake. Contacted Jelena from Boat Milica through their FB page and she was wonderful to work with and accommodating when we asked to start our trip earlier than usual. She recommended various options for us to consider (duration, sights to visit, etc)Our 4-hour odyssey through beautiful Lake Skadar took us past Island Grmozur, villages Seoca and Radus (Radus is deepest point of the lake) and River Moraca a special bird reserve. We also stopped at monastery St Nikola and monastery Kom. The view from monastery Kom was magnificient, and the cats that lived there (as well as St Nikola) were lovely. Travelling through Skadar Lake itself was magical and peaceful. We past by small villages, beautiful floral and fauna. Skadar Lake is a bird-watcher's paradise. On our trip, we even saw the elusive pelican perched near Grmozur.Highly recommended activity for anyone visiting Montenegro. Don't just stick to the coastline! Go inland and visit the lake. You won't be sorry! If we are ever in the vicinity again, we will want to visit Skadar Lake again and definitely use the services of Boat Milica. Professional, friendly and passionate about their love for the lake and its inhabitants.

It's a family business, and a very friendly family. The price was fair and the whole experience was a definite must-see if you are in the region. We had a multicultural team on board and managed to get to know a bit of everyone, mostly the captain.

Our stay in Kotor Bay for one week included many amazing highlights - one of which was a trip on Lake Skadar on Boat Miliica which we arranged via text with Jelena, at very late notice. We had the opportunity to 'cruise' along the Lake for three hours in the sunshine, surrounded by the magic of the mountains, the water lilies, herons, cormorants, egrets and occasionally sighting flying fish.We had the boat to ourselves; so at €25 an hour we felt was excellent value. We decided not to swim, because we were enjoying the magic of the Lake surrounded by mountains. We started our trip at 0800, as recommended by Jelena, and this meant we were the only people on the Lake!Ksenija was our excellent guide together with Andre. We were also fortunate to visit the Kom Monastery - an amazingly peaceful, and beautiful place. On the recommendation of Jelena we then had an excellent meal of smoked Carp (massive portions) we made the mistake of also ordering chips and tomatoes. All delicious.Another recommendation by Jelena was to visit the Canyon at Kuce Rakica - Cijevna about 30 minutes away. Wow - this little and perhaps unknown place has spectacular waterfalls. Highly recommend this place - you travel past a cement factory so this can be disorientating - don't be put off; it is amazing.

Shared between Montenegro and Albania, Skadar Lake National Park is one of the most magical places you can visit in Montenegro. It is a great place to visit for those who are looking to explore natural beauty such as: small fishing villages, medieval monasteries, secluded beaches, wineries, flora and fauna. I recommend visiting Skadar Lake on your own: go to Virpazar, cute little village where you can find a few cafes and restaurants, walk around and chit-chat with locals. Stay overnight and take a tour with Boat Milica early in the morning. Family Dabanovic owns this recognizable wooden boat called Milica. It is a couple with three children who named their boat after their oldest daughter, Milica. Andrija and Jelena are the owners and we had a pleasure to spend half day on their boat, while exploring wild beauty of the Skadar Lake. Andrija and Jelena were right on time. They brought some refreshments (nice touch) and we started our trip at 8 o’clock in the morning going under the bridge towards our left. Right next to the bridge is Lesendro fortification. We went through numerous “water ways” between the islands while hearing stories about the lake, history, nature. We saw some great flora and fauna including birds and beautiful white and yellow water lilies. Our first stop was one of the magical medieval monasteries called Kom, established by the rulers of the Crnojevic dynasty from the 15th century. We were really impressed by this place; there is only one monk and another person living on this island. Marko is a friendly young man who left the modern world and decided to join the monk on the island and spend his life there. He gave us a nice tour and told us unforgettable stories about the royal family who was buried here. He offered us some apricots grown on the island and homemade rosehip juice. I recommend making some small donations to their tiny church with beautiful frescoes from the 15th century if you end up going, this is the only type of income they make. Our next stop was Karuc, fishing village where you will feel like you went back to the 19th century. Stone houses are so well preserved in their simplicity; it felt so relaxing sitting there and sipping our coffee at “Sloba’s”. We had such a great laugh listening to some stories from locals while overlooking the most stunning panoramic scenery you can imagine. Unseen Wonder movie was filmed here, you can find it on youtube. I contacted Jelena way before our trip and was really impressed with her professionalism and willingness to go out of her way to accommodate our requests, answer all the questions we had and make us feel welcome. Jelena also offered to be our point of contact for finding an overnight stay in Virpazar which we are really grateful for. Andrija, the captain, was born around Lake Skadar and knows every little corner of it. A lot of skill and experience is required to maneuver these boats through lake currents and hidden pathways, Andrija appeared to be exceptionally skilful and made us feel safe. He surprised me with a little water lily necklace, made within a minute. Very cute. Boat Milica has flat bottom, it is very stable and goes through spots where big boats can’t reach. Jelena also helped us to purchase some local honey and called the lady to bring it over to us directly. I can’t tell you how impressed we were when we went back to Virpazar and realized that the charge for this trip was what we agreed for originally, although it took almost two hours longer than originally planned. Andrija and Jelena are not there just for the money, they care and become your friends. And they certainly make you feel that you want to come back and continue sailing which we will do one day. A few tips: • Stay overnight in Virpazar and take a boat tour as early as possible to avoid tourists coming with travel agencies. I recommend either Jovanovic apartments across the bridge for 30 Euros (very nice, bright and clean) or if you are looking for just a simple room, there is a place right above the Virpazar Pub for 20 Euros.• Do your homework and don’t explore Skadar with just any boat. If you arrive in Virpazar, you will notice many people offering day trips. Most often those are not licenced and not insured. Boat Milica is both insured, licenced and stable. Members of this family speak excellent English and they also offer services in French and Spanish. • Take at least 3-4 hours boat trip to get the real vibe of the area• Visit Virpazar Visitors Centre and ask for a Catalogue of the Region, Lake Skadar which is sold for 1 euro. Really great buy. • If you are hungry, go to a little shack called Ribolovac, just next to the bridge, it is about 5-10 min drive from Virpazar going towards Podgorica, just before the bridge. You eat what they catch that day. It is a finger licking food and the best fresh water fish I tried ever. We took this trip 3 days ago and although we are enjoying our swimming and sun bathing in Herceg Novi, I feel like I want to go back to Skadar Lake and continue feeling it's magical energy......You can reach Jelena at +382-68-702-376.

Milica and her parents do the good job. We have had excellent ride on the Lake with some juices and a lot of tales. Ride includes Lake and river delta and the nature is spectacular.

I have spent a very very good time with the Boat Milica last May,2014.The Lake was so beautiful and with the professional knowledge of the Milica family. I can fully enjoy the Lake with their guide to appreciate the Lake.Jelena was so helpful to find me a Taxi. They offered me a big hand to solve my traveling problem. This was not supposed to be their business to help me to find Taxi as a boat agent. But they were willing to do extra, just wanted me to come to the Vipazar with less worries.I highly recommend and appreciate their good service.I already recommended Boat Milica to some of my friends who are planning to come to Montenegro and Virpazar. For other tourists: My view is ~~ "Join them with no hesitation!!!"

Hello to all! i was with my old friend and now I know we decided the best - the boat Milica! Nice and hospitable hosts helped us to tour the many beautiful and hidden places on the Skadar lake. It was fascinated me as much as it has undiscovered, at one point I thought we had reached the end of the world - beautiful beaches, the island is full of birds, a remote island-castle, old and new ideas about how to live on the lake, water snakes, birds (pelicans! i couldn't believe!!!), fish, wild and calming beauty. I was especially happy that I managed to touch the water that I feared earlier. Next trip will be longer, and on the other side of the tracks. See you soon! Thanks to Jelena and Milica!

We had really good time spent on Boat "Milica". It was our the very first trip on Skadar lake and it was amazing: there you have the real jungle on lake - reed-patches, water trees, and the most beautiful valley of water-lilly, a lot of beautiful kinds of birds, almost unusual chance to see PELICANS!!! They are so big, but very calm and marvelously bird! A number of old islands, which are transformed naturally in birds' home, they seem like untouchable! In one moment we realized that we are floating on the water :) Thanks to captain Andrija and Jelena! We willl come again!
