The park is full of flora and fauna. A beautiful place to spend the afternoon and make sure to take a dip in the thermal pool. A definite must do when visiting the town of Furnas. If you want to enjoy a delicious lunch in the beautiful Terra Nostra Hotel first, your admission into the park is free.

Why go to a manmade park when there is tons of natural scenery everywhere? The entry is 5E and the hot pool is not exactly hot, its lukewarm. If you are going to take a dip on a cold day, it not the best. I prefer the Poca da dona beija, nearby for that..

Not the easiest place to get to on the island – certainly parking is a challenge – but it’s definitely worth it for the swim in the pool. Remember to take your swimming costumes, and the water may be brown, but it’s lovely. And the shade provided in the gardens is very welcome.

Entrance fee is 5 euro per adult. We decided not to take a dip in the geothermal pool (the smell is not at all bad, so don't let that put you off) as we were going to Poca do Dona Beija later in the day.We had a lovely stroll through the gardens which date back to 1775. The garden is 12.5 ha to give you some idea of the size of it and there is a varied collection of trees and plants shipped there from all over the world. They have a large Camellia collection.Very pleasant

After stopping at the Caldeira das Furnas we continued our journey onto this park. With its humble beginnings in 1775, the park has continually grow and is now a substantial botanical garden with hundreds of species of plant, both domestic and foreign. There is a large pool in front of the main house which takes advantage of the hot springs endemic to the area. There are changing rooms nearby and you are free to take a dip if you’d like. You can meander through the paths that criss-cross the entire park. We were there on a rainy day so the full effect was probably watered down (get it) a little. If you’re into the botanical stuff you could spend the better part of a day here. We wandered around for about an hour and moved onto our next destination. It’ll probably bore the hell out of your kids….leave them in the pool while you take in the sites.

We spent a couple of hours visiting the beautiful garden and swimming in the hot thermal pool. The walk around the garden is very relaxing, and swimming in the hot waters of the thermal pool surrounded by beautiful nature is quite a unique experience. It's well worth the entrance fee of € 5.00. Don't forget to bring your swimming suit and towels!

A perfect afternoon retreat for complete relaxation. Absorb the atmosphere of amazing nature, with beautiful trees surrounding the huge thermal bath. Give your shoulders a massage under the waterfalls and let go of all that stress. Only 5 EUR entrance. Well worth it.

The garden itself was very nicely manicured. I imagine that it is quite beautiful when everything is in bloom. The facilities for changing into bathing suits were clean, and the thermal pool itself was quite enjoyable. We ate at the hotel restaurant on the grounds and the staff was extremely friendly and the food delicious. Plan on spending a solid 3-4 hours here.

We wish we came to this garden earlier,as the garden part was big and really relaxing to walk through. Then soaking at the orange pool was great! It is a big pool, with hot water coming from the sprout and the bottom of the pool. A must if you are in sao miguel!. It is 5€for both pool and garden. So if you have time, perfect to spend at least 5~6hours in the park, with picnic and a book you can stay even longer! Yes.bring bring darker swimming suite.

Stunning gardens - a mixture of arbotetum, waterfalls and a lake which you can swim in. Wonderful. We had a lovely visit here - wish we could have stayed longer.

Small fee to get in but worth it. Before you even enter, there is a pond with huge beautiful lily pads. As you walk further into the park you begin to see the brown volcanic water pool and a beautiful estate building in the back ground. We loved the warmth of the "mud pools" and there are two fountains of very hot water in the pool that people took turns to get under and let the water hit their neck and backs. Avoid wearing anything white in the water because the minerals stain your clothes yellow. When you walk out the of the water your skin feels soft and your body feels heavy. My daughters swear the water is magical. lol There are also lots of paths with beautiful old trees and descriptions of each. Great town to walk around and the people were friendly. The streets are very narrow and many are one way so we wound up going in a circle but it didn't bother us because there was so much to see. We will definitely be back!
