We visited this house last year, not realising how busy it could get at weekends!...This time We visited at 12.00 on a thursday. No crowds plenty of time to look around..photography is now allowed in the house except in one room (items did not all belong to NT) which was really good as there were so many interesting rooms and objects. I used the'Museum' low light setting on my camera, so no flashes.. photos were a nice record of our visit.Staff and Volunteers helpful and knowledgeable.Very enjoyable visit

I have visited Wightwick on many occasions and I am never disappointed. There are extremely helpful and knowledgeable stewards in each room but they never intrude on your visit. The items on display are truly interesting, especially the Edward De Morgan tiles. Take the house at your leisure and explore its many secrets, including a remarkably painted fold-away bed! Then, enjoy the lovely gardens!

An excellent welcome at this house. Fascinating period piece, with lots of arts and crafts, and pre-Raphaelite objects. Extremely helpful stewards downstairs. very knowledgeable. But the steward on the upstairs landing really let the side down. Most rude and unhelpful. Come on National Trust - you need to weed guys like this out!! Good refreshments in the old stables, and very tempting goods in the excellent shop. Would like the rain to have stopped to explore the gardens further. Needs a revisit for that!!

Visited this beautiful old house today as it is a national trust property. Very pleasant and knowledgable guides who explaind much about the treasure trove that is Wightwick Manor. Much bigger than I thought it would be and full of lots of lovely interesting furniture and household items etc. Beautifully preserved and looked after with some magnificent rooms full of interesting facts about the manders family. Great looking around the children's rooms with many toys that would not be out of place in a museum. Many I remember having as a child myself. Bought back many happy memories of my own childhood. Beautiful gardens with a lovely lake you can take a stroll around. Great day out and a building the National Trust should be truly proud of. Free entrance if you are a National Trust member.

A fabulous gem on the outskirts of Wolverhampton. It's beautiful in every way, with so much detail that it will require a second visit when the vast gardens are in bloom.The volunteers were extremely knowledgeable and keen to inform you about every detail, which makes a refreshing change. The tea rooms were delightful, but for a coeliac there was a choice only of crisps (which, in fairness, is still better than some other places I've visited).Really can't wait to return when the gardens are out to play in the sunshine.

A treasure trove of a house and garden but, sadly, one of the most poorly interpreted National Trust properties I have ever visited. Information about the house itself, it's rich contents and the Manders family is scant: visitors are expected to ask the room guides, pick up the densely written room guides' books, or fight over the few (too brief) fact sheets. The NT could do so much more to bring this house alive and engage with its visitors. Cafe and gift shop fine.

My daughter and I visited Wightwick Manor last week. When we got there we were told that as it was Tuesday the house was closed for cleaning. That was fine because we only intended to take a walk around the gardens with my four month old grandson. As it was lunchtime we went to visit the cafe. There was limited choice - two hot mains or soup and a very small number of sandwiches. My daughter chose the only tuna sandwich but the staff were happy to make one fresh for me. It was actually very good with plenty of filling. We also had a pot of tea, a soft drink and a packet of crisps which came to almost £13. Not great value for money but OK. I would think that there would be more choice of food in the Summer months when they have more visitors. We had a really lovely walk afterwards - it was a cold day but there was lots of sunshine. The crocus and mini iris were just coming out. I would think that the gardens are really beautiful in the summer. The house looked very imposing and I will return when it is open because there is an excellent collection of Pre Raphaelite paintings which I would like to see. Overall we enjoyed our visit.

National Trust used to be a standard lunch stop off for us, now we are beginning to doubt. Food was good here but the service just hopeless. Lunchtime and one person on the till. So 20 minutes to get to the front to place an order then 20 minutes to deliver a bowl of soup. If I hadn't have complained I suspect I might still be waiting. So my wife had finished her sandwich well before my lunch arrived so becomes just a refuelling stop off, no pleasure at all. Seems to be run by well meaning amateurs who just haven't got a clue about customer service. And don't get me on to the crowds of young mums that arrive, put one person at the back of the queue then reserve 4 tables and pull over what seems like 20 chairs so there is then nowhere for people with food to sit, recognise that situation?

This place should not be missed if you like the arts and Crafts movement and William Morris in particular. Always open and staff always welcoming. Not large grounds but the house is something else. so much better now you do not have to go on a tour but can wander and ask staff the questions you really want answering. Do not miss it

It is well worth a visit to this historic building. It is really lovely to visit in the summer whenthe grounds are lovely to explore. The building has so much character and full of history.Highly recommended.Marg T

Visited on a wet day in February. The house was excellent and well worth the visit. The gardens were nice but clearly not the best time of the year. Easy to find using the sat nav post code in the guidebook

Relaxing stroll around grounds or home. Regular visitor and on my doorstep. Additional parking now, which is a definite bonus, though still not enough. Popular place.

W e visit regularly, with and without our daughter and granddaughters. We all have a great time. Loads of interesting things to explore and do. A must if you are in the area.

If one likes the Pre-Raphaelites, the visit of the house is a must. And the gardens are just wonderful when in full bloom. We keep going there for its peace too.
