Just what an English town municipal garden should be, a well maintained green space, available for all, with a variety of features to suit park visitors.Bird life alive with Spring in the air when I visited, so good for spotting a lot of our native bird life in a safe environment.Plenty of benches, a cafe in a Victorian facade, seasonal plants and a host of trees and shrubs.Popular with dog owners, all well behaved (both dog and owners) when I visited.Always worth a visit, whatever the time of year.

Recommended to us gave it a go an it is a stunning area with lots of information around regarding local springs. A very well equipped and kept kids play area. Sure it will be stunning when in bloom in spring and summer.

Green expanse in the city with a steep hill to test your fitness. Liked the fact that you could walk one way and back another

1st time we ever in this beautiful park inn the heart of Harrogate, it was surprising to see so many people using it.

Whenever we visit Harrogate we try to take a walk through the valley Gardens. It is an area of beauty, interest and social intercourse. A walk can be restricted to the many paths running through the gardens or extended through the woodlands leading to Harlow Carr Gardens. A delight at all times of the year.

These gardens are right in the heart of Harrogate so quite accessible. There are a lot of lovely features in a fairly small space so not too far to go if you want a quick walk to a nice spot for a sandwich on a bench. The river runs through the gardens giving a lovely trickly sound which is very peaceful. There is woodland at the far end, but I didn't venture this far. I visited during the Winter and it was still a charming place, so I can imagine it would be spectacular in the warmer months when the flowers all bloom.

I took a walk through the gardens following a meal at the nearby Orchid restaurant. In keeping with most things in Harrogate, the gardens are very well maintained. The paths are well laid out and easily navigated, but as the park is quite hilly it will not suit everyone.

Surely one of the most impressive formal town parks in the country -if it was good enough for Elgar (who is recorded as a visitor) then good enough for me.

Spent many an evening drinking cider on the golf course or in the band stand - wonderful memories. It is also a renowned pick up area for the pink community. We would spend many a happy hour as teenagers heckling the raving homos twitching in the bushes.Another favourite past time was being chased by the parky - then he got a motorbike ( XL350 Honda ? ) That's a different story........

The Valley Gardens is a public park just off the centre of the town. It is open all year round and provides enjoyment for all ages.As a botanical gardens, it is magnificent. The colours of the plants, shrubs and trees in the Spring, Summer and Autumn are a sight to behold. Even in Winter, the gardens are a pleasure to walk round. In the centre of the gardens is a tea room with outdoor seating when the weather permits. Further up the gardens you come to the activities area. A recently installed adventure playground for children provides hours of safe fun. There is also an open air paddling pool, one of few remaining in the country, which is fabulous for little children in the hot summer. There's crazy golf, a pitch and putt, tennis courts and a skatepark for the more adventurous!At the top of the gardens are woodlands with paths that, if followed beyond the park, across the road at the top, eventually take you to the RHS gardens at Harlow Carr, about a mile's walk from the main park entrance. If you take the right hand route there, the views across the edge of the Dales are worth seeing.The best part of this is most of these activities and facilities are free!

This is regular haunt with the grandchildren with the great play area, as well as the hidden New Zealand garden with it's giant wooden kiwi.

A very pleasant walk around the gardens which have some interesting historic features and buildings as well as modern recreational facilities. Well kept, some improvement in the information boards would be helpful.

The park is just a few minutes walk from the town centre and it is a delightful place for a walk or to just sit and relax.We took a half hour stroll through the park on Saturday - February 7th - before heading to the Turkish baths. It was a crisp day with watery sunshine and plenty of families and couples were making the most of the weather. There is a little cafe where we stopped for a drink and ice cream. I think it will be beautiful in the summer with all the flowers in bloom.

Nice to walk through the gardens, some nice features and would be really nice in the summer months. Nice old buildings and quite a lot of history
