Well its quite a walk to the top and hard going for none walkers. We walk a lot, it was still testing.I would say anyone can get to the top if they take their time, its so worth it for the view. I would also recommend good footwear with grip as its a little slippery in parts. All in all good for anyone who likes the outdoors, mountain bikers would love it.

A must if you are visiting Shropshire. I 'trained' for six weeks before I took some international visitors to see the views. The climb only takes 30 mins but if you are unfit it is wise to prepare, I found it quite easy despite my years. Sturdy footwear with a good grip is also a must. Just a word of caution, I slipped on the way down and broke my wrist, knew straightaway. Luckily the hospital is just ten minutes away!

A most unusual hill - well worth the lengthy walk to the top. Great views. The legend says it fell off the spade of a giant.

The Wrekin is a steep climb but the views are well worth it. In fact because I find the 'false summits' frustrating, and also like to go down a different way to going up, I often choose to climb UP the short slope at the Needles Eye side - it is even steeper but the gentle walk DOWN the most trodden path is lovely. There are lots of songbirds and also ravens and buzzards when you get to the top, and there are panoramic views of Shropshire, into Wales, Worcestershire, the Cheshire Plain, and the West Midlands. In spring it is a real delight, I often choose to walk around rather than up and down, and take in the beautiful bluebells and new green of the beech trees. What this busy spot severely lacks is a tea room and toilets. Someone could have a real goldmine here, as lots and lots and lots of people visit to walk, with and without dogs, or climb, or cycle. Perhaps also a few seats/tables on top for picnicking purposes.

Makes for a good day out hiking up to the top of the wrekin, some great views when up there.Very enjoyable walking in the woods....Sadly no loos about, no food or drink places...make sure you take your own drink! Still great walk for the rambler.

By walking to the top, you will enjoy stunning views of the surrounding area. Not advisable if you find hill walking a hardship. About half a mile up there is the Halfway house which has toilet facities, food & drink.

I like to get out walking, and sometimes travel miles to a destination, but when short of time there is nothing finer than a walk up the wrekin (4 mile from home) it gets the heart rate up, and once up there, the views over surrounding countryside are a pleasure to take in, various routes up and around to enable short or longer walks, plenty of parking options around too and its free. It's a good run up and down too for the more energetic.

Nice walk. nowhere to park or eat. The sites and views are stunning the lack of basic facilities is appalling

I'm not the best walker or hiker and have a 8 year old and 5 year old. We have walked to the top at our own pace and enjoyed it many times. It can be tough if you push yourself so great for fitness people too. There is a halfway house where you can stop for a tea and a mars bar (if it helps). The views at the top are better seen than described. Go see it!

Brilliant experience if you enjoy walking. Well worth a visit to see all the wild life and nature at its best. Its a blooming big hill but we enjoy it as we are locals.

History and stunning country side. You will love visiting this area, small villages around, lovely walk to the top with fantastic views of shropshire, Wales and Staffordshire

Took a traditional stroll up the Wrekin (that hasn't happened since we were kids) lovely walk but gets steeper as you climb, you think you've got to the top then realise it has a false summit!! Great memories as I climbed, at the top I managed to climb through the needles eye which was thrilling, the saying goes that if you can climb through the needles eye you are slim and fit!! Then walked on to the cuckoo spit where you spit into a bowl in the rock - if you get it in the bowl you can make a wish!

A walk to the top is not an easy stroll but it is well worth it for the views. I try to manage once a month but have lapsed over the winter. Never mind spring is in the air..... Where's my boots....

Set yourself a challenge and enjoy the reward, don your walking boots and hike up to the peak of The Wrekin. It is not an easy walk, some parts are quite steep and challenging but it well worth the effort when you get to the peak at some 1300 ft above sea level as the 360 view is stunning (don't forget your camera and binoculars). One work of warning as you are climbing to such a height remember it is cold up there so layer-up!

It will take a couple of hours depending on how fit you are. If not then probably 3 hrs.Lots of other walks near by. Parking in several places.
