This is a lovely place. If you are looking into your family history they have an excellent selection of maps so that you can look at the no longer here streets. I often take my children in for time out and a relax. It has old slot machines they can play with old pennies (the tills have then) they have a whale of a time

Two young grandchildren and a rainy day today, so we needed somewhere indoors & the museum wasn't so very far. First, it was free entry - not much about like that nowadays! Very good small museum on 2 floors that is well run by it's volunteer workforce. Interesting exhibits throughout, with room mockups such as drawing rooms, bedrooms & kitchens from Victorian times to the 40's. Model railway buffs will enjoy the 'Double O' layout. Lots of history from the surrounding area, including the boot & shoe trade plus engineering and there's stacks of photos with detailed information to view. There's also a cafe for a tea & coffee during the visit so all in all a really nice afternoon out. We do intend going back again.

The perfect small town museum, this highlights local achievements (some you wouldn't expect, such as the film studios!) and has a great array of exhibits (for a nostalgia buff like me, the 80s electronica selection was superb) and a packed programme. Well worth a visit.

This really is a superb museum - well worth a visit. For a relatively small town like Wellingborough to have such a good local museum speaks volumes for the volunteers who man and administer it.

We are from Perth, Western Australia and our family ancestors were bootmakers in Wellingborough, as were a lot of other folk! It was great to see the museum display of photos and work machinery used in those days. We got a lovely feel of what it was like back in the 1850s, with the Mothers Union tea at the Vicarage too! Thank you so much

Nostalgia buffs and something for the young and old alike. From the historic Waendal information to the informative displays that capture the yesteryear of our town. Cinemas, and even a zoo you will see things you never knew about Wellingboro and will leave with a smile on your face.

Visited with an international party of motorcyclists. We were made very welcome by staff. A local Elvis impersonator entertained us. The museum has some interesting exhibits along with a WW1 trenches experience. Entry is free.

I was born in Wellingborough it was great looking round the museum and being reminded of the places no longer there, I loved the zoo as a child and remember pressing my nose against Green & Valentines windows. There are lots of things to see and the children who were there were enjoying the old fashioned games and penny slot machines. The museum is well worth a visit for the young to learn about the town and the young at heart to relive times gone by.

Definitely worth a visit. Took my granddaughter who had great fun playing the old penny slot machines. History well represented for older ones.

There are some interesting exhibits and lets face it, it cannot be easy to make Wellingborough look and sound exciting whatever century it may have been. So one really for the locals but I have to say that I am surprised by the size of the shop, I have seen smaller in state museums!

The museum is quite unexpected with its content. It has a great selection of books on Wellinborough and surrounding towns/villages, a good souvenir-type collection, and the two floors of historical displays (which change) are first-rate. Entry is free and there is a cafe. The site originally housed the local baths.

My son attended with the beavers one night. I allowed a little extra to perhaps have a look round the gift shop before collecting him but was surprised to have full access to a large amount of interesting and surprising displays and activities. I spent a good deal longer than anticipated and frankly will have to return to fully take everything in. I have visited other local museums and this was comparably and technically free (though I recommend a donation as apparently the museum is under threat for funding). Local information, history, hands on activities plenty including for kids.
