As NT members we thought we would check out the castle while holidaying in the area. As you expect with NT a good quality experience and although no cafe it does have hot drinks and packaged sandwiches and cakes to enjoy in a nice warm seating area. A bit more local produce would be nice.The castle itself was good and although completely empty it has an interesting history and the free audio guides really bought it to life for us ( not usually a fan of the audio guide, but these were really good). Afterwards we went for a nice walk along the river accessed from the car parking area. Definitely worth visiting.

Having just become members of the National Trust, we decided to pay this place a visit on our way home from Manchester. It is fairly easy to find but the car park is not particularly large although there was plenty of space when we visited. We decided to have the interactive guide which gives you a full informative history of each level as you go along. The exterior of the building is impressive. The rooms are empty but quite expansive and the interactive guide gives you a good impression of what life would have been like back in those days. There are a lot of steps but the view from the top is breathtaking and well worth the effort. We were lucky enough on the day we visited to see the Lancaster Bomber from neighbouring RAF Coningsby take off as well as the new Typhoon aircraft. Definitely well worth a visit and requires a good couple of hours.

National Trust run castle. Very informative. Great views from the top. Each floor has a different theme.Last time we visited, there was an exhibition on the ground floor.

We stayed in Tattershall for the weekend and wanted something to do. When we saw the Castle, we thought it was beautiful but didnt look much - how wrong! Once you step into the grounds, you see it at its beauty! Huge and even has a moat. There was an option to have a free guide which we accepted. This was filled with so much information about each part of the castle and was very interesting to listen to. Many rooms to look around, but the view at the top was fantastic! As was the top of the Castle. Money well spent for an hour or so in this piece if history.

Have been here many times and will still go again. The views from the roof are amazing. It's well worth the climb to the roof as I'm sure on a clear day I have seen Lincoln Cathedral. There are special days put on by the National Trust to encourage children.

I have visited this castle with a few friends and also with a class of children. Both visits were rewarding and I would return again for future visits. The setting of the castle is beautiful and the view from the top is stunning. The close proximity of the church added another dimension and is also well worth visiting.

Located in Lincolnshire. This red brick tower has a moat surrounding it and is very picturesque. Interesting for many reasons, but a little lacking in what I am interested in. But very good for a medieval tower stronghold. Sadly like all National trust properties it is not cheap to get in. visited 2010

This is an amazing tower in the middle of the fens, a fine example of an early brick-built castle originally owned by Ralph Cromwell and almost lost but for the intervention of the National Trust. Spiral staircases lead to several different levels and finally the roof, from which you can see for miles across the surrounding countryside.This National Trust property has particularly good free audioguides available and I would certainly recommend using these for the full experience and lots of helpful information. It is worth looking round the amazingly atmospheric church next door as well.

We had a lovely family visit. I don't know cost because we are members of "National Heritage". They hold events here through the year, I love the Christmas and Halloween events best. Check website. You can hire a headphone set that gives you the history as you walk around. You have a choice at which level of information you want to hear. You need to be able to clime the many stone stairs. Views are amazing and each level has interest and other rooms. There are loos in the car park area. There is also a beautiful church next door to look around.

we took our young grand daughter out for the day she's only one but she loved walking around the big rooms with large fireplaces which she could go in and the wooden floors made lovely noises. it was a frosty day and she liked the crunch of the grass. we had a lovely hot drink after in the gift shop which was very welcoming.

Anyone interest in history the casle has connections with Oliver Cromwell, the rooms are well furnished

You need an afternoon to visit this magnificent landmark, and learn the remarkable story of how it only survived demolition 100 years ago by the skin of its teeth. The excellent audio commentary device is essential. Climb the 150 steps and see Boston Slump and Lincoln Cathedral.

Visited Tattershall with the family last weekend for their Christmas Market. We loved shopping around for gifts and got to see the castle too. The staff and volunteers were very helpful and friendly and we ended up not just shopping with the many stallholders but buying lots of NT goodies in their lovely shop in the guardhouse too. Always a warm welcome at Tattershall, keep it up and see you soon!

Originally Built between 1440 and 1450 this brick built castle was in a total state of ruin by the 1900's in 1910 it was sold and the huge medieval fireplaces that were still intact were torn out by the new American owner and packaged up for shipping to the States. Lord Curzon of Kedleston stepped in at the eleventh hour to buy the castle and was able to secure the return of the fireplaces. The Castle was then restored, It was eventually handed over to the NT upon his death in 1925. The Castle is a remarkable piece of restoration work. . Although not a big Castle it has bags of charm and is set within a tiny moat. Car parking nearby. great views over the Lincolnshire Countryside from the Battlements. Well worth a visit... Check opening times as we found it was only open at weekends ! Free Audio guides accompany you around the Castle and provide heaps of Historical information. Admission fee for non NT members.
