This is a very strange set up indeed. It is supposed to be about local history and education of younger children ( I am guessing). There is one hall area open and on exhibit of a 1953 living room. With the wrong type of TV in it. The tower was shut, the Back shutters were also down so it was very dull indeed. The staff were rude and in your face as soon as were walked in the door. Another member of staff who realized this- was over helpful to make up for this, which is good customer service, but a little bit embarrassing. There is a Local history research room upstairs which was like a library - it was very good and the staff were helpful we looked for stuff on the Old Wishaw Road. All in all a weird service.

Stopped in for a quick visit, I was made feel about as welcome as a shoplifter in asda. The displays are full of generalisations and the lack of direction meant I didn't know where to go. Don't waste your time going here.

Helpful staff with a mine of information and frequent exhibitions that are of interest to locals and those from further afield interested in uncovering the areas past.

Interesting modern building, well laid out and hosts good visiting events. Its in Central Motherwell so easy to get to, near train station and buses.

Good for info about Motherwell but sadly because of size not a day out but certainly worth a visit. Easy to get to and close enough to the town centre to do some shopping

This was a great place to visit for finding info about ancestors and the local area, staff are very helpful.

I recently visited the archives section up stairs, to do some family research using the microfilm readers. They give you a quick guide on how to use the readers and where the film you need is located. Sorry I can't recall the name of the guy who helped me, but he was very helpful. So if you need to use the Heritage centre archives section, its well worth a visit. They keep editions of most local newspapers, you just need to know what your looking for.

Having worked in a key Motherwell factory - which employed 2000 people and was key in the mining industry, I was amazed to find not a mention of it. A very biased view of Motherwell.

Motherwell Heritage centre has never changed, never been done up and has been very poorly maintained. Not somewhere I would like visitors of my town to go to as I feel as much as it has a lot of information about the area past it doesn't do much for Motherwell's image
