Nice bar with good family feel,do not feel out of place with children like you can do in some bars. Food is great, great portions. Not to crowded nor quiet, nice little buzz about it.

Had a really nice meal here, pate starter, couldn't complain about amount, plenty of it, actually more than I needed and very nice. Had rump steak which was beautifully cooked in a lovely gravy and super roast potatoes, was both surprised and delighted with my meal. Will now return with my husband as I know he will like it too. Would definitely recommend as food served nice and hot, and very pleasant staff too. Overall one of the better restaurants I've eaten in at night, especially for a local place. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

We were delighted on oir previous visits to the Smiddy but not this time. It was a Thursday early evening and although busy not manic. The overall service was poor and very slow. We only nipped in for a quick bite on the way home 3 adults 1 teenager and our 6 yr old. We ordered almost right away but the food took almost an hour to come and was cold! When I raised this with the waiter he just said eh do you want a new one? No thanks it's taken long enough. With a shrug he wandered off and we never saw him or any other member of staff that evening. Needless to say we haven't been back and its only a short walk from our house! To be honest though I'd rather drive than put up with that attitude. Not great.

we visited the Smiddy inn for dinner early evening... the service was okay and the food was delivered to our table fast... the macaroni was enjoyable but could have been better and the chips were under cooked... there was a good atmosphere and the staff were happy to help with anything.. the TV's with sports on is a good idea and my cousin who is 11 enjoyed them... overall our experience at the Smiddy was enjoyable but the food could have been a little better

Great night good food and atmosphere, certainly great value for money. Football was on and pub was busy for this but it did not affect our party that was in for a birthday. Staff were attentive and only happy to help with anything.

At 7pm on a Tuesday, as you'd expect, it was very quiet. Not wanting to sit by the door, we headed in past the bar. Unfortunately the smell emanating from the toilets was both disgusting and overpowering mix of stale urine and cleaning products. We retreated back towards the door, where, looking back, the seats smelt like an old folks home.Service at the bar was quick and pleasant, and our food arrived within 10 minutes, which is a good result for standard pub fare. Unfortunately, the chicken was overcooked and chewy, which should be impossible in 10 minutes, and the veg was completely dried out, to the verge of being woody. We went in for affordable mediocre pub food, and that's what we got.Towards the end of our meal one of the barmen got out his chewing-gum remover, and proceeded to clean the underside of the tables around us. As he got closer the disgusting sticky sweet smell of stale gum got worse and worse. At this point we left.
