When you first walk round it seems quite small, but then you discover there are other sections to it and not only butterflies but a great selection of reptiles too! It has a nice little gift shop with some well priced items that will appeal to the children. It's well worth checking the times for handling and feeding - we were lucky enough to be there when the snakes were getting fed and it was fascinating to see them swallow the mice whole! The staff are very knowledgable and keen to answer questions. There are lots of offers available so worth watching out for but a great place to take the children to.

We went here recently when the grandchildren were on a school break. I was great for them as they got a chance to touch a snake, millpede and a tarantula! Also they were able to see lot of buterflys as they were merging from their pupa. It is good value as you can go out and come back later in the day when possible other animals are being feed.

Visited butterfly world this weekend. We loved it! As we just thought it was butterflies we were excited to see they had reptiles too! Very interesting seeing all the different types of butterflies/reptiles they had. We arrived during a talk which was very interesting and they had a spider out for handling. Definitely recommend for all ages! Think it was around £7-£8 for an adult ticket which might be a little bit pricey but you do get a good experience :-)

Having just visited Dobbies Butterfly & Insect World for the very first time, it was okay and lots of butterflies to see flying around everywhere, and the Reptiles where very interesting to see them feeding when we got their also to see the spiders and my partner really loved watching the pigmy hedgehog running round in it's wheel. The building it's self is in need of some repairs with holes in the roof ect.

This is the type of place that just feels very safe for children. My 2 year old loved running about and really got rid of a lot of energy. Fantastic for a chilly or wet day. However the entrance fee is extortionate for what you get. If you buy through Groupon (it regularly comes up on Groupon) the price is much more reasonable. Staff are lovely and obviously quite enthusiastic about the animals they care for in the reptiles section. Would recommend but not at full price!

Butterflies everywhere, lizards, snakes, spiders and a small gift shop. Most staff are very friendly (occasionally one is a pain!). We are regular visitors and love it. Kids love the place with spider and snake touch sessions for the brave! Definitely worth a visit, take about an hour max.

Me and the kids love this place! It's full of butterflies all over the Place....so watch where you step! Loads of information on plants and the species of butterflies. Also a big pond with big fish. PLEASE BE AWARE as you would expect is hot, sticky and humid, so watch out for heart and breathing conditions. Also has an insect and reptile sectons, including ants, spiders, lizards, scorpions etc. loads of information and handling chances. Good selection on the gift shop.

I had no idea that you would be in amongst the butterflies. There are absolutely hundreds of them flying about everywhere. If you want them to land on you wear something brightly coloured, as we discovered. Periodically, throughout the day animal handling and feeding takes place with the knowledgeable staff. It's next door to Dobbies and a few other shops so, you can pop in there for something to eat and drink.

Lost count of the number of times we've been here now. Great exhibits and always a new bug or reptile to look at but the thing that separates this place from the rest is the staff. Everyone is so helpful and informative and if you're lucky they might let you help them at feeding time!

Hadn't been here since primary school and had a revisit on a wet December Sunday. It was a very relaxing experience, interesting to see all the creatures and Kev was incredibly entertaining during the handling staff. In fact we found all the staff that we encountered to be very well informed, helpful and friendly. It really was a grand day out and a nice place to be. Well worth a visit.

Been here twice now and both times enjoyed it. It's like a huge greenhouse full of plants. Butterflies are amazing but fish tanks need cleaning. Attached to. Gift shop and dobbies garden centre so u can spend a few hours ere. Insect and bug rooms at back of butterfly world too. Kids like stuff like this. It's £7.50 pet adult but it's not a massive place so doesn't take long to get round. Lovely place though

This is very warm inside and the butterflies fly all around you. looking closely at the leaves of all the plants you discover caterpillars of all sizes and chrysalis's in various states. We also came across stick insects on some of the plants! the insect room contains many different varieties of snakes and spiders and frogs. we were able to see a feeding session with some lizards and take part in a handling session of millipedes and a snake. The staff were very knowledgeable and approachable. Although we enjoyed this is was over £30 for 2 adults and 3 children and I felt that this was very expensive for the time spent there (about an hour) although they do stamp your hand so you can leave and return later, if there is something else in the area you wanted to do.

Lovely tranquil place to visit and beautiful exotic butterflies to see. Right next to Dobbies Garden Centre, so a whole day can be spent between these two places.
