Located on the hill top, accessible by car (free parking just at the entrance), the monastery stands out from other similar ecumenical places by its spectacular view - from a veranda which surrounds the exterior of the church - over the town and the river. Besides this and the tranquility of the place, there is nothing special from a touristic point of view. St Anne Monastery is in fact the only attraction to visit in Orsova, if the tourist who enjoyed boating the Danube river (and its beautiful attractions) west of Orsova has a bit of time to spent in the town itself.

We visited the Monastery and walked the grounds on a Saturday. The gardens are so well kept and the Monastery is a lovely example of traditional Romanian architecture. We enjoyed an opportunity to spend some quiet time here.

- Location: Wonderful. A 10 minute drive from Orsova. - View: Stunning view over the Danube valley.- Atmosphere: Tranquil.- Duration of visit: I spent a serene hour there. - Parking: Five minute walk from the nunnery and free of charge. The monastery has wonderful flower gardens and hospitable nuns. It’s a relatively new - 20th century - monastery that is worth a visit if someone pass through Orsova.

A very nice place: quiet with a splendid view over the Danube Valley towards Orsova. Access by car is made by a narrow and steep road. There is a parking there. It's free to visit. Aside from the Danube view, there is an interesting aspect of the monastery: it has a very cozy wooden veranda that surrounds the church. From that veranda one can admire the entire Danube Valley and the splendid gardens around the monastery. It's a must see if you are visiting Orsova.

A long, steep winding road up from the town is worth the climb to find this stunning building with a peaceful garden, beautiful wall paintings and view along the Danube.

This Monastery (although we might otherwise here call it a nunnery) in in the wooded hillside, high above Orsova in Mehedinti County, Romania. It would be a very tiring walk, so I would say a car is needed to reach it.The views from it are wonderful, of the mountainous hillsides and River Danube and the monastery itself has wonderful flower gardens.Always quiet, out of respect to the nuns there, it is such a tranquil place - one for private thoughts and reflection.Visit at a time when the nuns are at a service in the small chapel and hear them singing their prayers - simply beautiful!

You can get there by car, on the road. It is a big monastic complex near the Danube shore, with a nice church and a big shop with souvenirs , church objects and books. From that height you have a beautiful view around. It is built in a forest on that mountain.

Located on a hill overlooking the city of Orsova it could be a nice visit. The church is made of wood and has an U shape, along with the nuns chambers. The terrace offers a relaxing view of the city and the gulf.If you took the time and got there, you should take another five minutes and walk up the path on left, 50 meters before the monastery gate. The top of the hill will offer you a more spectacular view.
