I am very thankful that I can see and touch his creations and I am very happy that this open-air museum exists here, in Tirgu Jiu.

Located in the Central Park near the Jiu river, the Table of Silence is a must see in Tg Jiu, together with the Gate of Kisses (located nearby) and the Endless Column (towards the east of the city). Altogether, they represent the most important legacy Brancusi left (and accepted by) to Romania, his country. It is really difficult to rank these masterpieces...We took a stroll in the Central Park, from Poarta Sarutului to Masa Tacerii, then to Jiu river's promenade, crossed the bridge to the small island and then came back (the Art Museum located on the park side was closed). We visited the park at the sunset, when the warm sunlight was shining on the water; the visit lasted till we saw the sculptures illuminated at night.

So why are people sitting on the hourglass chairs and eating and acting like they are at a restaurant? I don't get it. Anyway, Brancusi once again. It's a nice thing to look at, it's beautiful, but doesn't seem as complex as his other works.

The Table of Silence is a circular stone table surrounded by twelve hourglass-seats, which symbolize time, passing of it. The Table represents the moment before the battle on which the combatants were going to participate. Nevertheless, the seats are not located close to the edges of the table. It can also represent "The Apostles' Table" the work having 12 chairs (which represent the Apostles), while in the middle there is our Lord Jesus Christ.

Very interesting. It can put you into thoughts. They could have some signage giving additional information.

the Table of Silence - it's one of the "must see"in Targu Jiu. It is situated in the park located in the centre of Tg.Jiu. Together with the "Gate of Kiss" and "Endless Column" It's of the legacy left by the great artist,Constantin Brancusi, to Romania. You can find all three of them aligned in Targu Jiu. The Endless Column is situated in a different park, at the entrance in Targu Jiu. Gate of Kiss and Table of Silence are located together in the central park. There is no fee for visiting either. The central park has lots of trees and makes a nice walk even during summer time. You can take some time there to relax and also you can visit the small museum dedicated to Constantin Brancusi - it is situated on a wing of the park. Inside the museum you find some souvenirs with Brancusi's work. At the end of the central park there is a nice view with Jiu river.

Che dire, gran bel parco in un paese molto bello. All'interno ci sono la "Poarta Sarutului" e la "masa taceri" bellissime. Vista sul jiu. Un bel pezzo della Romania.
