The tower is the perfect place for a complete view of old court, Chindia park, town and surroundings.

Chindiei tower is part of the ruins of Targoviste. There are a few steps to get up but it is worth it for the view.

You need to be fit for claiming the stairs, the tower is not that tall but the steps are high and next day you'll be stiff

Chindia Tower is a wonderful place in Targoviste. You can sightsee over the city and learn some things about Romanian history.. The side nearby the tower is quite modern. There are the ruins of the old fortress. A must-go in Dambovita county !

For all those interested in Dracula (Vlad Tepes), this is the place to be. When you climb the steps of the tower you feel like you are taking part in some important historical event, knowing that so many rulers lived here. There are many pictures and maps on the walls, which immediately take you to that period. I suggest visiting the tower at night or at sunset because it offers an amazing view of the city and the domain.

This is a poorly promoted historical testimony of the Vallachian rulers' past. This tower has protected the city of Targoviste and seen many battles of famous Vallachian rulers, such as Vlad the Impaller, Mircea the Elder and Michael the Brave. It is in top condition. During its visit one can read about its past, about the real life of Dracula, the cruelty of the times and immerse in its atmosphere. Upstairs one can see a splendid image of Targoviste and the Hill Monastery and its surroundings. I remember a conversation with a Romanian lady while climbing the stairs of the Tower. When she reflected upon coming to revisit the Tower all the way from the USA, I felt that this is a place in heart, full of tranquility and magic, a must-see.After all, I do it as often as I can, all the way from Wales.

It was a nice experience, you have to go up circular stairs when you go up the tower so be careful not to fall. Once at the top there is a nice view of Targoviste, it's worth it.

Targoviste was the capital of Valahia in old times, here is the royal court where a lot of kings stays. Is not Bran castle the real castle of Dracula - he never was there, is just a spectacular castle (Bran Castle). The real name of Dracula was Vlad Tepes, and he was a strong king of Valahia and he was apreciate in his country. One of the legend said it was a fountain around Targoviste and was a gold cup (made from gold metal) with preciuos stones left byside to drink water with, and nobody stole it because all the thiefs was afraid ... if somebody stole something he was punish by cuting his hands... Because of that rules and many other in the same style, the rate of criminality descrese it at zero.. All population was happy and feel much safe... Are many storys in old manuscrises about Vlad Tepes, he take many strong mesures ... He burn in a church all the nobility who gives the country to Otoman Empire, and have some adventages... Vlad Tepes was a patriot, loved by his people and villeges... One time, when turkey comes to invade Valahia Vlad Tepes burn all the cereals (the grains) from the fields, poisen the fountains and he put a lot of death people killed in high woods in his back part ... Was a real wood from death people... Otomans was afraid and goes back, Valahis was saved...The Curtea Domneasca and Chindia Tower are places full of true history... Too bad the City Hall are not investing in this old vestigies and to take care of all this treasures...

Located within a short walk of the town centre the site is well worth a visit, forget modern Dracula and get the history.

Climbing up the narrow spiral stairs of Chindiei Tower is like getting back in time in the time of "voievod" (the medieval king of the region) and the posters of the inner walls helps you doing this by showing you pages of real history (for who is interested). Reaching at the upper round platform is like a sudden landing in nowadays, because all the surroundings of the tower (except the Royal Court ruins that are placed in the same location) are from a dissapointing modernism (with no architectural homogeneity).

A lot of stairs, you really have to work to get on top but the view is totally worth it. You can see the park, breath fresh air, and enjoy the perspective over the whole city.

Targoviste is a beautiful town, with a lot of history. The Royal Court was home to many Roumanian leaders. I recommend visiting for a trip in history.

Great place to travel. It is a must see objective in Târgovişte. Built more than 500 years ago, the tower is still in good shape. You can climb the stairs in few minutes. From upstairs you can admire a beautiful panorama of Târgovişte, especially of Chindia's park. The tower is part of a large complex, with an old and beautiful Royal Church, also with ruins of Royal Castle.
