Please pay respect to this church. Most visitors do visit the church - as a church. Walk careful - and do respect both the church and other visitors. Try to understand what you see. It is very special to visit this church when it is a mass performed.

Visiting an Orthodox church is always a special experience - and this one is no exception! The Orthodox Church of the Holy Spirit is one of the highlights of the Vilnius Old Town.

Vilnius has many beautiful churches but this one beats them all. The interior is a vibrant mix of blues, pinks and most notably emerald green. This is one of the most colourful churches you will ever see. Some say it verges on bad taste. The style is rococo and there are wonderful details wherever you look. The dome looks particularly good when the light shines through at certain angles. You can find the church as you walk along Aušros Vartų g. It is through the pink archway. One slightly morbid thing on display are the corpses of three saints wrapped in robes.

The Orthodox worshippers take the shrine very seriously. The church is beautiful like most Orthodox ones but I'm afraid the three saints' bodies in it, although beautifully covered and wrapped freaked me a lttle.

Was only able to view the external. Apparently our guide did not include this as part of the itinerary. Did hear a lot of chanting though.

This Orthodox Church is very beautiful, especially inside . I have seen and been to many Orthodox Churches but I've never seen emerald green iconostasis in my life .The church was also beautifully decorated by fresh white gladioluses (for late October it was really unexpected). You really feel holy spirit present there and for me it was very difficult to leave this place. I wish I could stay there longer and admire!

Many things have been said about this church. I my opinion the most important thing would be to be there at 0800 in the morning and attend a service. This will take some two hours. During the week there are only very few people. If you never have been to a orthodox service you will notice that there is no music but a chorus will sing. Together with the liturgy it is a very emotional experience. Of course also the liturgy is very different to catholic/ protestant church. You will see that it is much more spiritual, sensual but at the same time very structured, strict. -> Go there with no expectations, have an open eye what happens, walk around (that is perfectly allowed) let yourself touched by the singing and the liturgy. Afterwards buy a small book in your language for information.(As women please take a scarf for your head with you. See how the other women wear it and do the same.).

There are many churches in Vilnius and some are prettier than others. I think that this is one of the prettiest inside. We didn't get to see a service. If you happen to be in the area then go and see it. You can get some nice photos.

As everything is close within the Vilnius old town, don't miss to visit this place. Especially the liturgic services and chants offer a wonderful impression about the orthodox religious life.

Located within a short walk of the Gates of Dawn this church isn't spectacular, but it is beautiful to sit listen to the chant.
