Most Fun Day!!On our recent European vacation and after a few extravagances along the way, we realized once again that most often the least expensive things to do bring the most joy. In this case the cost of a car rental. This ride was FUN! Caught lots of videos and photos showing US getting passed on crazy, windy stretches of road. Views are spectacular. What is not to love. In all of my travels these were memorable, thoroughly enjoyable days. Smiling and laughing through Switzerland...in a mini.

We drove over the Furka Pass on our road trip from Italy to England via Switzerland and France. Not to be missed. The views are fabulous and the civil engineering of the roads is just amazing. Plenty of motor cyclists, some of whom seemed to have death wishes but I'm sure they were just skilled riders. Many places to pull over and take photos or simply to let the faster drivers overtake. A fabulous drive although I wouldn't like to tackle it in the winter!

In our month in Switzerland, we drive through many Swiss mountain passes - some of the most amazingly beautiful scenery I have ever seen. The Furka Pass is the most stunning of them all, in my view .... with the views into the Rhone Valley just over the pass. You have the added bonus of the very-accessible Rhone Glacier also being nearby. The first day we travelled over Furka Pass, there was a steam-train heading towards the tunnel under the pass ..... and later we saw an Eastward heading steam train meeting up with a west-bound steam train, just to the west of Furka Pass. It appeared as if the 2 trains had stopped to have a chat. I thoroughly recommend a visit to this pass during Autumn (our visit was September 2013 and the weather was perfect.

Travelled this road on a trip through Europe in September, weather was a little dull but did not matter in anyway, what a fantastic part of the world. the driving experience is second to none. you will need a good day to stop and see most things with the time it will take to drive across as well. as every site will say, take your time and do it at your own pace, there are plenty of places to pull over enjoy the views and let anyone pass you, you will get the motorbikes and the sport cars, but you will also get the motorhomes, cyclists and coaches as well.Breath taking road with Breath taking views

We travelled this road 4 days ago. I've been to many places but I've never been on a road trip like we did. The road is steep, windy and so scenic photos just don't/can't do it justice. A stop at the glacier to visit the ice grotto was fantastic too!

I think that the weather factor is really important. The drive was thrilling and the views were breathtaking! A must do and see!

We were on our way from Grindlewald to Zurich and just stumbled upon this pass name at the very last. This would have delayed our reaching time to Zurich by 4 hours, but we decided to go for it and were we surprised???This is one of the most stunning drives that i have ever done. The curvy roads with the stunning roads and the glacier at the top makes this whole diversion worth it. Do remember two things1) Stop at hotel Belvedere and visit the glacier. There is no way you would miss that2) Stop at the start of the pass and have a look at what you would be driving on. The start is just after the lake at the top of the mountain. If possible go during evening and you would get mind blowing pictures of sun light reflection in the lake/dam at the top . For a camera enthusiast, there are so many places that pictures should be taken

First of all, the drive was terrifying! We factored camping on the mountain into our itinerary but unfortunately it was so foggy we could hardly see three meters in front of us. But we made it! We camped on the mountain and woke up to the most beautiful view and the sound of cow bells was comical and cute.Don't miss it!

This high mountain road is superb! We did Furka Pass after driving through Grimsel Pass on a sunny Saturday. We were lucky at that time to encounter a beautiful clear blue sky and not many vehicles on the road. Luxury cars and horse carriage passed by, we snapped hundreds of pictures of the incredible alpine scenery. Countless wows. A memorable cool drive of our life!

Furka pass is an amazing drive, the road is in good condition and well signposted and the views are spectacular. Weather whist I visited was variable with patches of rain and sunshine, nevertheless I will never forget driving this road.

OK - I'm terrified of heights, but my husband drove and I'm so glad we did this. The switchbacks are scary and exhilirating. The road is very good. Take a lot of time to travel this road - stop and check all the views. It's really incredible. There are plenty of places to stop and have a view / snack, but I suggest you pass all the tourist stops and head to the bottom to a little town called Gletsch where there is a lovely shop with coffee and pastry. You can't miss it. All delicious and not crowded. There are outside tables and a little steam train goes right through the town.

Driving on Furka Pass in July was incredibly beautiful and dramatic. The weather was not in our favor, since it was either raining or with thick clouds, but I still enjoyed the experience very much. Unfortunately it rained almost every day we were in Switzerland, but we made the most of it, and this pass was certainly a highlight for me.We drove the Dolomite Mountain region in Italy previously, and I enjoyed Furka Pass much more. On the way back, we had dinner in the area, and then had a long drive in the dark with rain. Grimsel and Furka Passes are VERY dangerous under those conditions, but my boyfriend handled it well, and with our GPS it was helpful to see the hairpin turns before we approached them, so with my aid in navigation prior to the turns, we made it through.I would love to go back to experience it while the sun is shining.

My bus passed Furka to move from Zermatt to St. Moritz. It was amazing drive enjoying landscape. We dropped by Rhone glacier for a short break.

I find all Swiss passes exciting, and that includes the Furka Pass.We come to Switzerland about every 5 years, and the decline in the amount of ice on the Rhone glacier is very advanced and sad, but the views all around are just stunning. We were lucky this time and had brilliant weather and also saw a family of marmots.
