Was surprised to see in town central square a monument commemorating the Romanian soldiers who fought to free Banska Bystrica in WW2 together with the soviets soldiers. Found out later there were heavy losses in this area and there’s a huge Romanian cemetery in Zvolen. My friends and I were deeply moved to see flowers and our flag displayed in a typical day of January. Thank you Banska Bystrica!

Main square in Banská Bystrica - called Square of Slovak National Uprising - is one of the most beautiful squares in Slovakia. You can find there leaning Clock Tower, Francis Xavier Church, house with real sgraffito and many other beautiful medieval houses. If you will have time - take a local guide. You will for sure enjoy listening to the stories while looking at the wonderful houses.
